“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed 30 June 2013

We have spent a week staying at Downs Barn Farm ,the bedroom was excellent so fresh and clean ,with beautiful views from the bedroom window. Their were so many breakfasts to choose from, tried most and they are delicious, starts you of well for the day.Three welcoming dogs to greet you. Carolyn was always there to help in any way she could, nothing was to much trouble for her.Carolyn makes a lovely cream tea too.The bed was so comfortable we had a really good nights sleep.

Room Tip: There are two rooms and both are excellent

We have spent 4 nights at Carolyn and Richard Care’s Downs Bard Farm. The comfortable bedrooms (we have stayed in both) are beautifully appointed and delightfully decorated. It is obvious that Carolyn has put a lot of thought into ensuring her guests have the most perfect stay, as her attention to detail is second to none.
Carolyn’s infectious laugh and genial conversation sets you up for the day, as she serves a truly fantastic breakfast. You won’t be disappointed.
Would we go again? We didn’t want to leave!

As my previous review was not published, I will try again. Downs Barn Farm is a place where I feel instantly happy and secure as a solo traveller. The biggest first smile will probably be from the adorable pooches who treat all guests as long-lost friends. Carolyn is a wonderfully kind person, the rooms are immaculate but homely and the breakfasts are superb. I had a lot of fun and laughs on my last holiday there and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in West Cornwall.

We had a really warm inviting welcome from Carolyn with a lovely warm fire in the guest lounge on a freezing cold day. Our St Loy bedroom was extremely comfortable with TV and coffee/tea making facilities and was spotlessly clean, as was our bathroom. Carolyn's breakfast was second to none - and with so much choice! The B&B is in a fantastic location, just 10 minutes away from the Minack theatre, which is well worth a visit, as is Mousehole, St Michael's Mount and Sennen Cove. Carolyn is very well informed on great places to go and visit and is such a friendly and helpful hostess. We will thoroughly be recommending this B&B to everyone we know and will definitely be back, hopefully when it's a bit warmer!

Just how chilled can a person get?! To find out just try staying at this B&B.
I can honestly say that this was one of the nicest places. Carolyn made us very welcome and was very helpful in providing advice regarding local walks etc. The afternoon tea following a day out was so welcome! And don't get me started on the breakfasts - we could walk and walk without stopping for lunch. . .
The setting is one of the best on the planet - Sennen Cove, Minack open air theatre, St Michael's Mount, Penzance only minutes away in the car.
Just be aware of the hugely robust welcome you will receive from Belle and Rolo when you arrive. But that's OK as it is of the canine variety . . .
