“Lovely small chateau”
Reviewed 12 July 2012

Good value, lovely rooms, gorgeous breakfast, charming host - a terrific stop over or weekend retreat, if you can get in.

Room Tip: Only four rooms, all lovely - One room has a jacuzzi if you like that sort of thing...

I needed somewhere to stay overnight en route back to the UK with my little Yorkie not too far from Calais.
I can't stand Formula 1 type hotels that result in zero comfort and zero sleep, so searched for something a little more upmarket and wow what a find!!!
At just 65 euro for the night including breakfast for me and my pooch it was outstanding and I was blown away on arrival with its old school charm and beauty.

The room was incredibly spacious, clean and very comfortable with views out to the large pond in front of the property.

The proprietor was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast this morning was so good I felt I must write about this place immediately! Freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh strawberrys, cut in single glasses, fresh preserves and pastries all in the comfort of the beautiful dining/drawing room.

I felt I'd gone to heaven!

Would recommend and will definately be back!!

Reviewed 12 July 2010

This was the first night of our holiday and we chose somewhere close to Calais as we had already ridden a long way to get to the channel tunnel. We did get a little lost trying to find the chateau, but when we did find it we were very pleased with the rooms. Breakfast was a typical French affair, the tea service was a beautiful silver set that would have graced the grandest of tables. We tried to re-book for our final night but unfortunately they were full.

Stayed for 3 nights while exploring the north of France and WW1 sites. Easy drive up to Ypres and Brugges for lunch. Chateau has been in the family for generations and its history is fascinating. Four rooms (one larger than the others) that are not fancy but very comfortable and clean. Typical French breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice in a beautiful room. We were in the Bord de l'eau which had a huge bathroom but could have used a dresser with some drawers (hate living out of a suitcase) with views of parkland with ducks and deer. Just beautiful!

Reviewed 30 September 2009

Do not be deterred by the rather downmarket outskirts of Lillers...this lovely B&B is tucked away in parkland and a great place to to stop off the A26 motorway. We were really impressed by the standard and style of decoration and furnishings, which were better than some upmarket hotels of recent holidays (the rooms were, if anything, better than the website photos, spacious, elegant, spotless and comfortable). Tea and coffee in the room was an added bonus-unusual in France.

The breakfast was for us perfect -fresh orange juice, pastries, preserves, bread and fruit, served in a lovely dining room. The proprieter was charming and helpful, and whilst the chateau did not have a restaurant, he described several for all tastes and budgets within 5 minutes of the chateau.

I can't believe this is the first review, although judging from the visitors book an awful lot of satisfied visiters want to keep it a secret!
