“Great place to camp!”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights at the campground for the first time and I couldn't recommend it more highly! The location is great - right near the entrance to the national park, the amenities are clean and more than adequate and the management is friendly and helpful - for anyone to say otherwise leads me to believe that the issue was with them and not the management. We will definately return as soon as we can. This is one of the best campgrounds we have stayed at. For those who prefer not to camp there are also 3 beautiful cottages on the property available - we were lucky enough to get a tour of these and will hopefully get a chance to stay in one soon.

Just spent two nights in this beautiful part of Queensland. The cottage was equipped with absolutely everything needed for a pampered stay. Luxury bathrobes, quality toiletries and even a coffee machine. Each morning we were visited by the most beautiful king parrot and an extra treat on the last day was a satin bower bird. Kangaroos at sunset and walks in the nearby national park. A truly wonderful place to recharge the batteries.

I packed way too much stuff I packed aeroguard already there, packed cotton buds , nail file, shampoo , tissues not required already there . all the fittings etc were of high quality plush towels a bathroom with everything hairdryer a shower you could hold a dance in great water pressure and pretty much instant hot water I have been to 5 star accommodation that doesn't hold a candle to the standards at this retreat. The bed was so comfortable hard to get out great pillows (something else I packed and didn't need). greeted by the prettiest and friendliest dog who escorted us to our cabin and who doesn't love donkeys several on the property and my most favourite cows the curly cows soooooooo cute . Peace is absolute no mobile coverage no tv no internet wohoo that was tricky at first but hey we read books and watched a dvd but mostly watched the stars ....stayed in the one bedroom cottage no 3 and would say to someone who needs some time out this is the place to go.. good value have to add as there is a fireplace pick the cooler months to go so you can use that I love a fire but September 2013 has proven to be a hot one.. fantastic breeze on the porch great spot to cook dinner on the weber and watch the birds and stars. what a spot stayed 2 nights should have stayed another two lots to see in the area ........right on the door of the national park worth a visit... The hosts of this retreat know how to run this sort of business and there should be more like them. Only thing I could see that was missing would be in winter I would need to take some hot chocolate to go with the fire that's my plan for the next trip oh and did I mention the generous breakfast provided for the two days very yummy no skimping .............feeling very refreshed

Room Tip: the road in is good just have to be alert some drivers are less considerate than others.

We stayed in cottage 1 on the weekend of 27th July as a result of winning a competition in conjunction with the Jumpers and Jazz Festival in Warwick. After a day in Warwick enjoying the amazing tree jumpers and jazz we drove out to Goomburra and settled into our cottage, enjoying the wood fire, and the tranquil and beautiful bush setting. John and Margaret had donated the accommodation prize in support of the local event, and I would certainly recommend both Goomburra Forest retreat and the Jumpers and Jazz Festival. The cottages are on the doorstep the Main Range National Park-we drove up to 2 short walks to lookouts with spectacular views and with more time would have tried the numerous bushwalking options. The company of their friendly dog, feeding carrots to the 3 donkeys and seeing wallabies up close all added to the enjoyment. As described by others the cottages are very well equipped. There is no TV reception-nice! so take along some favourite DVD's (or loan from the host's collection). Thank you John and Margaret.

We stayed in cottage one (studio) for two nights recently to bushwalk in the nearby Goomburra NP. Unfortunately it rained and we could not walk, but we were than happy to stay and enjoy our time in the wonderful cottage. The kitchen and bathroom were stocked with everything you could want - a real home away from home! The BBQ and kitchen appliances were all modern, clean and working well. Our breakfast basket, prepared by Margaret, was delicious. We will certainly be returning any time we need a weekend of R&R!!

Room Tip: Have only stayed in the studio.

We had the pleasure of staying here a couple of months ago and can't remember being in a more tranquil and relaxing place. It was a well equipped comforatable cottage with beautiful surrounds that now has a camp site near by next to a river for those who want to really get back to nature.
We sat on the veranda eating cheese and biscuits with our wine and unwound. If you go, try and stay for 2 nights.
Thank you Margaret for a wonderful stay.

We stayed for two nights over the Easter long weekend in cottage two (one of the studios). It was very spacious, super clean and neat. The cottage and land are all very well maintained and amenities such as hairdryer, utensils etc were all provided. The breakfast basket was delicious and extremely generous in content. We enjoyed the view of wallabies, donkeys and cows in the paddock next door each morning and the resident dog who came to lay on the deck outside each night. ( Probably due to the warmth of the log burner!)
Thoroughly recommended accommodation.
