We liked this very nice and clean house in this stunning landscape a lot. The owner was very nice and helpful.
This cottage is a delight, and perfectly situated for visiting the North Pennines, Weardale, and Teesdale. The owners have thought of everything and made it a really lovely little home-from-home. We couldn't fault it. There is good wi-fi and even the TV is excellent! There are lovely river side walks from the village, and the local Co-op for food basics is just across the road. We went for the birdwatching, and if you are interested in that, then you just need to drive down past the brilliant pub called The Black Bull, over the river bridge and up onto the moors - absolutely superb. Another fantastic place for would-be birdwatchers or nature-lovers is the Durham Wildlife Trust nature reserve at Low Barns, just 20 minutes away. The river Wear runs through this and makes for an idyllic setting. So, if you are looking at this cottage, and it seems to fit your needs, then go for it, you won't regret it.
Booked Cranford Cottage for the Easter Weekend. A very reasonable price considering it was Easter. The cottage did not disappoint. It was lovely, spacious for 3 of us (2 adults, 1 child) and 2 small dogs. The cottage was lovely and clean, beds were comfy and it had all the things you would expect from a cared for cottage. Gillian was very helpful throughout the booking process and even left us treats for the dogs and a bottle of wine and biscuits - great touch. The village itself has everything you need, the chippy is great as is the local pub. There are plenty of local walks - indeed lots of leaflets in the cottage detailing them. All in all a great stay and would very much consider returning in the future and would also recommend. Thank you!
We had a very comfortable stay. The cottage was clean and thoughtfully prepared and thank you Gillian for the personal touches. We would recommend.
We had originally booked a cottage in Barnard Castle to find it was not for rent anymore. Thankfully we found Cranford Cottage and Gillian prepared it for us with an hours notice. It was beautiful, clean and easy to live in with our two springers. They loved the layout. Great having the shop over the road. Would recommend.
The two of us and the dog had a wonderful weekend here. The stay was enjoyable and the cottage was perfect for the three of us. We arrived to a heated and well lit up property, treats for both us and the dog, so thank you to Gillian for these touches as it felt homely for when we arrived. The property had everything we needed and more including necessities like tea, coffee and towels. The garden is a good size and enclosed too, very handy for the dog. The location is great too, there's the shop and fish and chip shop over the road, two great pubs with decent priced bitter and plenty of places to walk the dog. Overall, we had a very good and relaxing weekend break, thanks again Gillian.
