Description: The Partridge Inn is set within the picturesque Goodwood Estate in the South Downs village of Singleton near the Cathedral City of Chichester, West Sussex. The building dates back to the 16th century when it would have been owned by the rich and powerful Fitzalan Earls of Arundel. Today the Partridge Inn is transformed into a warm local pub with great character at its heart. Expect a friendly welcome from your new hosts Sarah and Mark, a relaxed atmosphere and great food.

My wife and called into the Partridge inn after the Goodwood revival festival just looking for something to eat before driving home , to say we struck lucky is an understatement, this fabulous pub restaurant managed to fit us in on a very busy evening and we enjoyed top quality homemade food with a great selection of Ales and an alcohol free beer for my wife which while becoming more common to me shows a thoughtful owner , we didn’t take wine but the list was well thought out and concise.

The sweet potato gnocchi was delicious and the homemade skin on chips ( ordered last minute after the food arrived) were the best I can remember.

Top job

We have been meaning to visit the Partridge for some time, and chose today as it was quiet do to the hoards being at the Goodwood Revival. The staff were welcoming and attentive and immediately brought a drinks order to our table.

The menu was simple, but varied with something to suit most tastes. The children's menu was also great and our 1 year old was provided with a high chair and toys to play with.

We had a delicious duck and orange pate with onion marmalade, deep fried goats cheese with summer fruits to start. For our main course we had the pie of the day (beautiful slow cooked beef in light, buttery shortcrust pastry) and a steak. The young 'un had a lovely mini burger with chips and cole slaw.

Tasty, well presented, served quickly and hot and with plentiful portions.

The real differentiator though was the staff. They were really lovely and very kind and helpful.

This review is very overdue but better late than never! My Mum and I booked a table for lunch on 30th July as a little pre-birthday treat. I had called up a couple of days previously for a special dietary request and the Manager, Sarah, advised it was no problem at all - she was so warm and friendly and we felt reassured.

The pub itself is well-presented with a fresh but cosy interior. We were made to feel welcome and wanted as soon as we walked in the door. We couldn't fault the staff at all - they were superb.

Our food was delicious - my Mum had lamb and I thoroughly enjoyed their avocado and crispy bacon salad! Lovely portion sizes in terms of value for money. I also enjoyed a miniature bottle of Prosecco which came with its own tiny ice bucket - such a sweet touch!

After our meal, Sarah introduced herself and checked that everything had been ok with our food and dietary request, which it had. The whole experience from start to finish was fabulous!

As a result, I know my Mum has since returned with a group of friends for lunch and all being well, me and my husband will be making a booking for our Wedding Anniversary later this month - can't wait!
