“A little gem tucked away in the countryside”
Reviewed 28 September 2012

We were lucky enough to pick up on a cancellation for 2 nights over the Goodwood Revival weekend and could not have been happier with what we found at The Old Post Office. Located in a little hamlet, this a real find with a warm welcome from Ann and Maurice who have delightfully refurbished an outer building into cosy, comfortable and well appointed accomodation for a couple visiting the area.Accomodation is excellent and breakfast freshly cooked to order, plenty of it and delicious Decent pub grub is a short stroll across the road (5 mins max) and an ideal place to relax and eat well without driving in the evening after a day exploring West Sussex. The Old Post office is just that - a beautiful old building which has been carefully renovated and I have no hesitation in recommending it to others. RP

Just back from a four night stay at The Old Post Office and it could not have been any nicer!
It was on a bus route from Chishester so it was easy to reach without a car.
It was a short walk to the Weald Downland Museum, The Partridge Pub was just across the street, for my evening meal. The accomodations were clean and bright, the bathroom is beautifully outfitted and the Wi-Fi worked well! Breakfast was quite tasty and the grounds were wonderful! Ann and Maurice were terrific hosts. I highly recommend this property.

My experience is that you will get a warm welcome if you come to the Old Post Office. I have stayed here twice now, while attending courses at the nearby Weald and Downland Museum. Ann and Maurice are the perfect hosts, especially if you are going to the museum as they are both involved with it. The room is in old Wash-house, which stands slightly apart from the house, so you have your own little cottage all to yourself. It's fully equipped with digital TV, wifi, very smart bathroom and comfortable bed.
Breakfast is in the main house and is a full English breakfast all freshly cooked by Ann.
The cottage is very convenient for the museum, for exploring Singleton and the district - there are lots of tempting footpaths for walkers. The local pub, the Partridge, is also within easy walking distance if you want an evening meal.
Ann is a very keen gardener, and is quite happy for you to stroll round the beautiful grounds. In particular, look out for the grouping where an informal planting takes your eye to view beyond.
I highly recommend this as a place to stay for a couple or if you are on your own. The only drawback, if you come from somewhere quiet, is the nearby main road, which can be quite noisy late at night and early in the morning, but by my second visit, I was prepared for it, and found it less disturbing.

Thank you very much for your generous and constructive review. It was a pleasure having you stay with us. We have taken on board your comment and have since installed additional insulation which we believe has resolved the concern. Kind regards, Ann
