I often use this cafe during cycle rides around the South Downs and each time I go, there's a new and lovely surprise. Once it was the excellence of their treacle tart and custard; another was the large and fulfilling breakfast. The latest was a modest coffee. I wanted to drink it outside, on a seat in the sun, next to the village pond. I expected a polystyrene cup. But no - it was brought out to me - a proper cup and saucer, with sugar, on a tray and with a smile. I've given it 5 stars - not because it is the most wonderful place in the world, but because it is a modest cafe that succeeds brilliantly.
