A pub with accommodation can often be both noisy and disappointing - but this place was an exception. In a village full of charm it was well placed. The building was quaint and interesting, the staff were more than welcoming, the room was spacious and comfortable, there was a good range of very drinkable beers in the bar - and the food, both in the evening and for breakfast, was very tasty. The only down side to the village was the busy through road - although we were not aware of traffic noise. The pub has a large, easily accessible car park, so there was no fear of parking on the road. We would definitely go back!

Room Tip: If it's the weekend - when it might be busy in the bar - ask for a room further from that area.

We met for lunch with 2 friends staying for a weekend break so personally can't comment on accommodation ( second hand report from friend says fine but ch far too hot and they couldn't open their window). Dog friendly was the big selling point for them so we had lunch with happy dog snoozing. Food was Excellent. Although the bar and restaurant were really busy, but that didn't stop great service

The wife works in education and decided to go and see her parents in London leaving me with the 2 dogs. I decided to nip up to the dales and see what walks and sights it had to offer!
Believe me this area is beautiful and there is so much fantastic countryside to take in.

This premise was brilliantly staffed and everyone there made you feel part of the community (I thought I'd lived there for years as I chatted with the locals and they fussed the dogs!)

The food was wonderful and varied at not expensive prices. I ate like a king for 3 nights running!!

For my first two nights the Boars Head was booked and so they put me at the Post Office around the corner (15 second walk) and this was just as friendly and delightful.

Would I stay here again? Simple answer is that 'I didn't want to leave'.

Thank you to Derek (licensee) you really don't stop and take such pride in making locals and visitors so welcome.

Shall I be back - oh yes!!

Room Tip: Go with walking in mind and good hospitality and food. The rooms are superb.

booked a meal here expecting to use our taste card but decided to go for the offer of the steak night and was not disappointed. very good value for the money of twenty five pounds for two steaks and bottle of wine. the steak was very good with all the trimmings and a salad bar to help yourself.staff very polite and friendly would be pleased to recommend this little pub to anyone being rather old fashioned and cosy

Stayed at The Boars Head for two nights on a walking weekend with a mate, no frills basic, clean pub accommodation. Very friendly staff and locals in the bar, top notch cooked breakfast, excellent bar meals and the portions were very generous.
Good value for money and a good location for walking in the area, would stay here again.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming as are the locals!!
Our room was basic but clean and functional
The food here is excellent and good value for money the steak being particularly delicious. My boyfriend also rather enjoyed the black pudding. The breakfasts also went down well!!
