“Good value and worth considering”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

Stayed for 3 nights and pub had just changed hands so maybe a few teething problems. However the staff were very friendly and the breakfast and service was very good. Pub has a nice atmosphere and evening meal we tried was basic but good quality and value. Rooms could do with some updating but clean and comfortable although lacking in some facilities. Front rooms suffer with traffic noise so be aware. Overall decent value and worth considering.

We brought Mum and our dog for a long weekend. Don't be put off by the entrance which was at the back of the pub. The rooms are upstairs and despite the pub being very busy, we had no noise from the bar any night, although the road is busy all night long. The rooms look old fashioned but are scrupulously clean. Mum dropped her TV remote down the side of her bed, but when she pulled the bed out to retrieve the remote, she had no nasty surprises. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. The food was amazingly good. We were impressed by the quality of the food put before us, and cannot understand why a previous reviewer was upset by the amount of chips he received. We had far too many and despite Mum (who had not ordered any) helping herself to a few, there were still chips left at the end of the meal.

The pub was for sale and we hope that whoever takes over will continue to offer such excellent value. We would stay again if ever in the area.

Room Tip: Noisy at the front of the hotel from road noise.

Stayed here whilst completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge with my husband. It was about 20 minute drive to Horton. Maypole Inn was a lovely place to stay. Staff very friendly, good food although a little expensive for what you got. Breakfast was delicious, including fruit salad and full English! Room was nice and very comfortable and clean. Had a relaxing bath after the walk which helped my old bones. The only negative was that it was extremely noisy from traffic outside, even whilst wearing earplugs so neither of us really got a good nights sleep over the two days.

Room Tip: We stayed in room number 3 which was directly facing the noisy road, avoid if you can.

We stopped en-route to the Dales as we needed a toilet break! Not quite lunchtime but we were invited in all the same. Very friendly smiling staff, and get this for value...... Two cups of Coffee and complimentary slice of flapjack each for £3!! Unbelievable really. We are now going to plan a stay here. Hospitality of the highest order.

I have to travel on business across the country quite often and stay in a variety of hotels. I don't look for flash reception areas and corporate rooms but try to use small establishments so it is often pot luck what you get. At the Maypole it was friendly and comfortable. Good breakfast. Free wifi (corporates please note) and incredibly reasonable. Would recommend to anyone.

Stayed twice now on route to buying cattle in Cumbria and a Landrover Cross Country driving course nearby - relaxed and friendly and good pub grub. Our dogs love it! Nice pint and friendly staff. Locals very welcoming and chatty. A Rohan shop just opposite - bought a great Merino wool hat!

We wanted to find a dog friendly pub in a lovely location and that was exactly what you get with the Maypole.
The menu is excellent, home cooked, comfort food, just what you need after a walk in the dales. The hospitality is great and all the locals were very welcoming, with lots of advice on where to visit.
Long Preston itself is very quiet, but fantastic central location for visiting Settle, Skipton and the beautiful Ingleton which has amazing waterfalls.
We had the best weekend ever, relaxing, walking and drinking... just what you need to take away the stresses and strains of every day life.
Want to go back every weekend!
