We recently stayed here for a weekend break. The Maypole is cosy and relaxing, and located well for trips and walking around the beautiful Dales. Good pub grub too. The decor probably needs updating but it's all part of the old English charm!

The new owners Paul and Jacquie made us feel very welcome. Keep up the good work!

We booked a family room, for 5 nights .Well below standard for £75/night.The bed's 1.Double.2.single. 1 Low chair.Forget urban chic,I would of settled for country comfort, the furniture is best left in the 1970's.Tea bag's left in the teapot, the mold was free.
To be greeted with "what time do you call this" when coming down for b'fast(9am).Let's just say the next visit to Yorkshire will not be in this Inn.

Room Tip: Don't over stay,If you are not happy with your choice move, dont suffer to be polite.

We, two couples, stayed at The Maypole Inn early August for 1 night. We found the rooms very comfortable, clean and with loads of character. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful.
The management who had only taken over 2 weeks previously were warm and welcoming.
We felt that it was good value and we would certainly stay there again

We stayed two nights, making a weekend trip out of a friend's birthday party nearby. If you are seeking urban chic Long Preston would not be the place to look, but for good Yorkshire hospitality and comfort the Maypole would be hard to beat. I was amazed to learn that the very efficient and friendly management had only been running the place for six weeks; there were no signs of teething problems. The food was simple but excellent quality: the breakfast bacon and sausages were from a local supplier as I presume were the fresh eggs. Friendly pub with an excellent selection of real ales, both local and less so. Our bedroom (at the back) was quiet - though traffic noise might be a problem in some rooms. It will be interesting to see what changes the new management make: the breakfasts though substantial and tasty lacked pzazz, and the decor and furniture have seen better days. But everything was clean and everyone was welcoming and helpful.

Room Tip: Avoid the front as the main road outside is very busy.

August 25th

My husband and I met our son and girlfriend here for a two night break. We found the rooms to be very nice, quite quaint with a good selection of toiletries and teas and coffees. The place is quite dated in decor but we thought it added to its charms as everywhere was very clean. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the meals were of a very high quality with locally sourced produce and very generous portion sizes. We were given rooms at the back so did not hear the road noise,we would definitely return;my husband's only grumble was that the wifi was very slow.

Room Tip: rooms at the back are quiet, the front has a lot of road noise

Stayed for 3 nights and pub had just changed hands so maybe a few teething problems. However the staff were very friendly and the breakfast and service was very good. Pub has a nice atmosphere and evening meal we tried was basic but good quality and value. Rooms could do with some updating but clean and comfortable although lacking in some facilities. Front rooms suffer with traffic noise so be aware. Overall decent value and worth considering.
