“Beautiful cottage and a warm welcome!”

We stayed in Heron Ghyll at the back of the village. A lovely peaceful situation and a very clean cottage. The welcome from Mr and Mrs Lusted was extremely warm. We had last stayed here 21 years ago so cannot unfortunately count ourselves as regulars! We enjoyed the peace and quiet interrupted only by the early morning drumming of the woodpecker nearby! The kitchen is well appointed and there are three good hostelries within a five minute drive if you do not fancy cooking. We visited the Fox and Hounds at Starbotton which, under relatively new owners, was excellent.
We will return. Highly recommended.

Dear Julian
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a Review - especially one so full of 'positives' for our readers. We understand that you are hoping to return to us, possibly next year - please don't wait another 21 years, for I will be celebrating my centenary then. We will pass on your comment to the Fox and Hounds. Warm regards from us both.

“Very enjoyable”

The cottage was excellent with comprehensive facilities. We had one minor problem to which David responded extremely well. We had a very relaxing stay and being familiar with the area we had a very enjoyable time which passed all too quickly. A bit of wet weather made for a more exciting week and very impressive waterfalls, rivers and cave outlets. Many thanks.

Hello Mr Baldwin
That was a wonderful surprise - to see your Review popping up on our screen - and to read your positive comments. Sight of the spring running on the hill side above and behind The Ghyll was a rare event and a sure sign that we had had our fair share of rain! Nevertheless, we're delighted that you enjoyed both a relaxing and exciting week, and we look forward to you repeating the experiences in the not too distant future.
'Au revoir'!

We love walking, so this very well equipped, comfortable cottage in beautiful Wharfedale was ideal. It had everything we needed and more. The owners were friendly and helpful. Even the weather was great!

Dear Ervin
We're delighted that you have contributed a Review; thank you so much for finding the time to do so. "It had everything we needed and more" - even the weather. Well, we can't always fix the weather, but we're so glad that the cottage measured up to your standards and expectations. Hopefully, others will be encouraged by your comments. As to walks, we are blessed here, whether for gentle riverside strolls or more energetic hill walks. Do return and sample fresh challenges! Warm regards, David and Susan

Our stay at The Ghyll was wonderful! David and Susan were very welcoming and so kind and friendly, absolutely fantastic hosts! The cottage is comfortable and very clean! Very quiet surroundings. Excellent facilities for the disabled with large bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and two more bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. The kitchen has all amenities necessary. Despite the rain we still managed to have a lovely bbq! Our teenage daughter loved it too! Had a great week at The Ghyll so we'll not hesitate to highly recommend it! Thank you David and Susan! We hope to see you soon!

Just back home from another lovely week staying at Heron Ghyll, Bucken. Heron Ghyll, like all of the Dalegarth cottages, never fails to impress. The cottage is really comfortable, spacious and always well maintained by Susan and David Lusted.who carry out constant refurbishments and it is always exciting opening the front door to find out what is new. The pretty kitchen is well kitted out and there is a beautiful view from the kitchen window. The views from the front rooms are also stunning.
The cottage is in a great location allowing you to walk straight out in to open countryside where you can go for miles or just a gentle stroll, whichever you prefer. Can't wait to get back there again.

“Well worth every star awarded.”
Reviewed 29 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

This is a beautifully appointed cottage in a lovely village. The owners have thoughtfully created an environment which is equally suitable for both fit fell-walkers and those for whom fell-walking is a distant memory. The Buck Inn is very close and serves good food and beers. We hope to visit again next year.

“Wonderful week at Heron Ghyll”

We chose Heron Ghyll as it offered three bedrooms and two bathrooms - ideal for two couples and one other. It is in a great position in the lovely village of Buckden and a perfect base for all the wonderful walks in the area. The property is immaculately kept with a well equipped (and I believe recently reburbished) kitchen. Milk and eggs are delivered to your door but the village stores is a very short walk away for other essentials There is a nice, friendly pub close by and also a couple of good tea rooms. I would definitely recommend this for a lovely holiday.

Dear Diana
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a Review - and one so full of positives, to the benefit of others. Coinciding with your comments came an email from VisitEngland, giving us the results of their latest annual Inspections - both 'Dalegarth' cottage and 'Heron Ghyll' (your recent 'home') were given "4 Stars, Gold Award" ... or, as the Inspector said "a 5 Star 4 Star". We were thrilled.
Warm regards, David and Susan Lusted
