Having researched the Maldives quite heavily, this was perfect.
The service was spot on.
The staff made the visit very comfortable.
The food was amazing, with the chef coming to our table to fulfill our requirements almost every meal.
There were no hidden charges, and small things like water and the snorkeling equipment provided for free, and in abundance.
I would not hesitate in staying there again, or recommending the place to any of my family and friends.
The small island makes it intimate and homely. Whilst there are many staff who I could mention, this would do injustice, as simply every single member of staff was ready to serve.
we look forward to visiting the maldives again.

It’s been almost a year (visited in Jan 13) but this is one place we couldn’t resist writing the review even after such a long span.
Words are less to describe this magnificent property which is complete in all aspects that a traveler would desire.
Though slightly away with almost 45min speedboat ride, the journey paves the way to get accustomed to one thing which you will see in abundance in Maldives: Sea.
Now jumping straight to the hotel. it is a very neatly laid with a good balance between beach and lagoon villas.
We stayed in lagoon villa and hence you may find this review being slightly biased towards it.
The best part of staying in lagoon villa is both freedom to go snorkeling anytime and having adequate privacy.
If you are not a swimmer, the snorkeling course by hotel instructor will be a big boost for your confidence.
We managed to go till the farthest end both-ways within the stone boundary same day.
Now coming to basics:
Hotel provides water (both sparkling and still) on a complimentary basis which is a big boon as water may add up significant cost during your stay
For Indians, especially vegetarian, food is another area where taj vivanta scores big time.
Lot of options in terms of veg cuisine apart from all sea food delicacies.
Evening events, especially limbo was fun and a good way to meet other hotel guests
Last but not the least few names that deserve mention :
Mr. Praveen Gaonker, head of security, who clicked awesome pictures of us, which are now cherished memories.
He was already good at it (from previous reviews) and it increasingly getting better 
Mr. Rana, who suggested the best of dishes to us and has a best kept secret of making delightful mocktails.
Mr. Balaji, who apart from his skills at bar is great at having conversations and will ensure you won’t feel bored while waiting for the pool table to get free.
All in all, Taj vivanta Maldives is value for money with one of the best lagoon and the place to choose whenever you plan to visit Maldives.

Room Tip: Water/Lagoon villa rooms in the middle (around 117) have better corals and ideal depth for snorkelin...

We recently stayed at the Vivanta By Taj Coral Reef Maldives for 2 weeks for our honeymoon. We spent our time there in one of the water villas which was perfect. Amazing views right from the ocean facing bed and a perfect private terrace with steps down into the clear blue lagoon.
We had a coral reef right outside our room and everyday the lagoon was swarming with all sorts of beautiful fish. We spent a lot of our time snorkeling as there is so much to see and the coral reef at this resort is really something special. If you are a snorkeler or diver this is the place to go! The snorkeling is complimentary.
But also if your just looking to have a quiet relaxing holiday again this would be a perfect choice.
Although we spent most of our time swimming in the lagoon and sunbathing there is still lots on offer to do. There are excursions, kayaks, pedalos and other water sports. You can arrange private dinners on the beach and romantic escapes. There is also a spa, we didn't actually use this ourselves although the spa menu did look very inviting!
One of our favorite things to do was the stingray feed which took place everyday at 5 pm. Not only can you feed them but you can stroke them and my husband even got in and swam with them! They were amazing it was an experience we will never forget. At the stingray feed everyday we would also see a few reef sharks swimming about.
The bar was a great place to go and relax, the seating is extremely comfortable i could happily have slept there! The bar staff really made our time at vivanta enjoyable and special. Every time we would go to the bar to relax or play pool the bar manager Kannan would play our wedding song and even made a playlist of all the songs we asked for so when we were there he would put them on. He was so friendly, polite and helpful. Also Balahji at the bar was great, we really enjoyed spending time talking to him, our honeymoon wouldn't have been the same without them. They all go out of their way to do everything they can for you, nothing is too much.
And its the same for all the staff, we loved everyone. Service from the staff at this resort is beyond 5*! There's a lot of people to mention that really helped make our time there perfect, I'll try to mention most but there wasn't anyone that wasn't polite and very helpful.
Fraser was especially helpful, he really made my husbands honeymoon experience a great one. Ray is extremely fussy when it comes to food and i think he changed every meal he had, he either asked for bits to be changed or asked for things not on the menu and every time he was told it was not a problem. The chef was a life saver! No one made us feel like a nuisance for changing things. I'm not so fussy so the food for me was great! Everything was cooked perfectly, definitely 5* food. The menus are changed daily so there's always something different to choose from and plenty on the menu, we were all inclusive so every meal we had 3 courses from a wide choice. Breakfast was always delicious as were all of the meals! At breakfast there's the buffet which serves fresh juices, cereals, cakes, fruit and more, also you can chose from the menu which changes daily. The girls at the front desk of the restaurant always welcomed us and showed us to our table, pulled out our chairs and placed our napkins! Although my husband would race to do it before they could as he felt he should be doing it himself!
We really enjoyed speaking with Najah who served us regularly, he was very polite and friendly. They all take time to speak with you and check everything is OK. Waz in the restaurant also kept us entertained with his origami and English phrases! There are so many more staff from the Latitude restaurant that were great but I couldn't name them all!
Then there is the Grill and the Pizzeria. The best pizzas I have ever had! The Grill is a restaurant set outside next to the pool and lagoon, a really beautiful setting. You have to book to eat here for dinner but we didn't find that a problem. Again the food was excellent and staff great. Wifau served us most of the time here, another great member of staff who we enjoyed the company of.
We would recommend going all inclusive, its definitely value for money.
The rooms are cleaned twice a day, you can choose to have fresh bedding and towels everyday or if you want to help the environment you can leave a sign out that tells them your happy to reuse them again. There is also pillow menu and in room dinning, also 24 hour room service. We didnt use this although it was very tempting! Everything was always perfect. There's a couple of fresh fruit left in the room each day and the mini bar and water replenished if needed. Also tea and coffee making amenities.The room and bathroom was very spacious and tasteful. Our room boy was Abu, he made beautiful decorations on the bed every night with flower petals in different designs which i loved!
The beach is serene, the sand is so soft and white, the ocean a beautiful clear blue. It was always peaceful as most people stay in the privacy of there water villas or beach villas with their own private outside area.
There is a gym on the island which has everything you need, its nice and cool and has a fridge with bottles of water.
The swimming pool is a great place to relax with great views although we didn't spend much time there as our villa pretty much had everything we needed with the lagoon.
The island security manager Yuvaraj was another great person we met on our trip, he would always take time to check how everything was and ask if we had any problems or needed anything, if there was a small problem (our air con stopped working once) he had the maintenance guys fixed it straight away. Ray was very fond of him, I think he wanted his job!
We also were invited for cocktails with Vishal the general manager where he asked us how our time with them had been and if we had any feed back to help them improve (we couldn't really think of anything!) We were looked after by all the staff the whole time we were there and they all helped to make our honeymoon an amazing unforgettable one! And we will never forget the kind helpful people we met there.
My husband was also invited to play football with the staff members which he really enjoyed and felt privileged to have taken part. I got some great pictures of them all playing although he didn't last long as the were younger and fitter and before long Ray hurt his leg!

We would definitely recommend Vivanta By Taj Coral Reef to anyone! If your looking to go somewhere beautiful where the staff meet your every need and have a truly breathtaking holiday then this is the place to go! We are glad we've had the chance to meet such wonderful people and hope one day in the future we will get to back.
Anyone that goes here a good camera and underwater video camera is a must!

Sorry if there's people we have forgot to mention, I feel like I could carry on writing for hours! But as it is now 1 am I'm going to have to stop here! We have so many pictures I will put up as many as I can.

Thank you everyone at Vivanta By Taj Coral Reef, From Mr & Mrs Branch!

Your little gateway to paradise on Earth - cliched but true. If you're looking for a breathtaking location, great food, villas that lead directly into the ocean, and basically get away from life as we know it, check in to this secluded little island property. While there's nowhere you can go without having booked the hotel transportation - speed boat (they charge for every ride and it's not cheap), there is enough to do on the property itself - go snorkeling, feed the stingrays, get a massage, lounge on the beach and if nothing else, stare at the ocean for hours at a stretch. Seriously, you won't get a break like this in a long time.

Tip: Do not fall for the submarine tour trap. After paying $150 a pop, it's nonsensical and you won't even know you're in a submarine before the captain announces it's over.

Instead take a tour around Male city. Interesting to see and learn about. Visit the local fruit/vegetable and fish market.

Room Tip: Get a water villa - it's pricier than the other rooms but will elevate your experience significa...

This review is long overdue. We celebrated our honeymoon at Taj Vivanta Coral Reef. We stayed in a beach villa, with a beautiful stretch of our very own private beach. The water was crystal clear and serene. The food was delicious, specially the breakfast buffet and the catch of the day that was cooked for us by the chef. I must mention that we reached a little late for breakfast and yet early for lunch but the hotel staff was gracious to send our breakfast in the room. We went snorkelling in the ocean and saw some beautiful marine life. Also caught a glimpse of a few dolphins on our way to the resort. Another high point was feeding the sting-rays near the jetty which happens every evening. Overall a great experience. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Go for the beach villa, any day.

A disclaimer: I tried to read so many reviews here to plan my trip, but unfortunately I found extremely detailed reviews or overall-trip reviews that weren't helpful. I finished my trip and in this review, I have tried to describe things in such a way that you can plan your trip really well.

I went to this place for 4 nights and 5 days. This place is really beautiful. Actually, by far, the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Superb honeymoon spot. I loved the place and the whole experience was wonderful. My wife and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Now! I'll only talk about what (I think) you must know.

When you arrive at the Male airport?
==============================

Ask for the Vivanta counter if the Vivanta guy isn't waiting for you at the arrival. If the boat trip to the hotel is scheduled after some time, ask him for a lounge where you can sit and relax. He will take you to a nearby restaurant where you can order a juice (a beverage is complimentary). But, because our boat ride was after an hour, I told him to provide us food and beverage. As expected, he asked us to order whatever we want from the menu.

The boat ride from and to the hotel
==========================
The boat trip was an hour long. I asked the boat guys to take some nice snaps. Enjoyed the ride. Ask for a seating that is private, we got the bottom end of the boat which was perfect for taking nice snaps and enjoying the ride. Also, ask-for/take some 5-10 wet tissues from the boat/reception because it gets sweaty sometimes :).

While returning from the hotel. I asked the hotel to drop me at the Male city, so that, I can purchase some souvenir and see the place. The city is very near to the airport. So, you can get dropped at the city and take a 10 minute boat ride to airport by paying a few bucks (10-20 rufias or so). I got the upper-berth of the boat, even that was cool. Actually, we were the only two people on the boat, we choose to travel from upper-berth.

When you reach the hotel reception
==========================
You reach the hotel reception and you ask for your room. Make sure that ask for a private room that is away from entrance. Ask them for the map of the island, if required. I stayed at beach bunglow for 2 days and water villa for the next 3 days; both the accomodations were lovely. I loved the rooms and the room service.

About the rooms
============
The rooms are really good. They provide plenty of water to drink, few fruits to eat, and and tea/coffee. If the room service people don't replace your water bottles/fruits/tea/cofee, make sure, you ask them to do. They usually don't forget, but just in case.

I am have a habit of getting up very early :), unlike my wife. So, when I was at the beach villa, I went for a jogg around the island. It's good. When I was at the water villa, I enjoyed staring at the sky by the room-deck. Superb deck.

And, you will needs lots of towels, at least, I needed lots of them. I was snorkeling, jogging, bathing, and what all :). So, yeah, ask the room service keep extras, if required.

Food and beverages
================
Latitudes is a good restaurant. They server awesome breakfast there. As breakfast was complimentary and as I am mammoth, I actually enjoyed lots of dishes. I practically tried all the 15 dishes in the menu is the 5 days.

For lunch, we went to the pizza place. They serve nice pizzas at the pizzaria. Or you can go to Latitudes for lunch.

For dinner, you can go to latitudes or Open Grill. The Open Grill was fabulous, but you need reservations for this restaurant. Make sure you call them by the afternoon and reserve yourself a table.

Activities to do at Taj Vivanta
=====================
Mornings, if you are an early riser, go for a jogg. I enjoyed it. Go for breakfast around 9:30-10am.

Snorkel whenever you feel like. Snorkelling equipment is complimentary, take it from the water sport area. However, If you required a life jaket, you gotta pay a few bucks. Snorkel as much as you want. The hotel surroundings have plenty of corals and lots of fishes (and a few scary eels too).

Go to the infinity pool for a swim, jacuzzi, and sun bathing. They provide water and sun-screen and nice-big towels. So, don't bother taking anything from your room. You can directly dress in your swim-suite, and walk to your rooms in your swim-suite. :)

Go for stingray feeding every day at 4:30pm. It's fun to feed tuna to the stingrays, the big fishes, and baby sharks. Some of you daredevils can wish to snorkel with the stingrays.

You get one complimentary kayak ride, do that by the afternoon, around 3pm.

Dance at the dance floor, at the bar area, at night. Ask the bartender to play your kinds of tracks. We danced for several bolloywood dance numbers. :)

Play all the board games, pool, or table tennis at the bar area.

Apart from this, there are plenty of water sport activities to explore (these are all charged). I did wakeboarding/waterskiing, it was fun. Althought, I could hardly get on the wakeboard and do proper water-skiing before the 10 minute time was up. Overall, it's a hard sport, but you'll enjoy it. Also, the scuba-diving is very tempting, but because my wife wasn't comfortable with it, I skipped it.

Whenever you are in your room, you can enjoy your room-activities with some nice music. Take an iphone or a ipad that has your playlist.

What I did not expect and what pissed me off
=================================
In general, I don't wish to pay for water when I eat at restaurants as I don't mind drinking the normal pure-water as opposed to the bottled mineral-water. If you too feel the same, make sure, you take your room-water-bottles to where ever you are going to eat. Frankly, I got pissed several times just because it's confusing if water is complimentary or not...and, you usually come to know about this only when the bills arrives. I was charged for water sometimes, and sometimes it was just complimentary.

Internet isn't complimentary. Damn it! This really pissed me off. Travellers have come here to spend some alone time, obviously, they won't be browsing for more than an hour a day downloading some movie or something. We need internet just to send a few pictures home or skype/whatsapp with a few friends for a couple of minutes. But anyways, I had to buy internet as there was no other way for me to talk with my family back home. I intentially did not take international roaming as I thought wi-fi is good enough for 5 days (my bad:().

Tips
====
Don't book lunch and dinner as part of your tour package. As you can very well order things from the menu and relatively, eat plenty for a lot lesser price.

Buy those nice big hats for your wife/mother/sister. They require one. I for to take some nice hats.

Don't buy souvenirs from the shop that is there in the hotel. They are extreamly expensive, you'll find most of those things in the Male city for 80%-90% lesser prices.

Take swim suites. And if you want and inflatable tube for those who don't know swimming. I wouldn't recommend you to buy it from Vivanta, it's pricy :).

Take an awesome camera and a tripod. I bought a DSLR just before the trip and I am blessing CANNON from my heart :). If possible, hire/buy an underwater camera, the corals are amazing and you can capture nice moments in the sea.

Everything is really expensive. Oh k, may be, I (an IT-guy from India) felt everything was expensive :). No wait, everything was super-expensive at the resort. So, yeah, make sure you take a lot of snacks (chips/some-cool-drinks/cookies etc). If you spend 2.7 Lakh Indian rupees (around 1500 dollars) on your room booking for two, you will end up spending around 60 thousand rupees (around 1000 dollars) for food and other side-expenses. Just be aware :). I did not do my budgeting that well :D.

When shopping in Male city, make sure you ask for atleast 80% discount. Just to give you an idea, you get T-shirts and nice key-chains and other small-items for around 5-15 dollars price range.

We got tanned even though we took 2 tubes of sunscreen lotion. The point it, you must apply that sunscreen at all times :). So, yeah, if you don't want to return back home 10 shades darker, apply sun-screen. But on a second thought, get tanned, to hell with sun-screen. :)

Obviously the tour planners take their cut from the tour packages, but I recommend you directly contact the hotel and ask for prices before going with some tour planning companies.

You don't need maldivian rufiaas anywhere. You can buy everything with dollars. Just convert some 20 dollars to maldivian rufiaas at the airport, for the boat ride from Male city to the airport. If required, you can always ask the shop guys to give you rufiaas for dollars, they help.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms that have a sunset view, not a sunrise view.
