“Apartment 103 two bedroom”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

Booked on booking.com a ground floor apartment on the photo on their website. Looked lovely in the photo. I admit that I booked a one bedroom apartment and they put us in a two bedroom. However it was very dark, not that clean, carpet could be replaced as stained, one of the light bulbs beside the bed not working, plastic red flowers in a vase on the dining room table and a shoe with plastic flowers in it in the bathroom, they need to go in the bin. Very noisy with traffic outside our bedroom arriving at 6am in the morning on a Sunday. Good that we had parking under the building but not worth the $185 they we paid. Stayed in apartment 103 ground floor. Would not stay again

We chose the cheapest option here, staying in a North Wing ground floor apartment. What we got was a fairly ordinary space with rather uncomfortable furniture and a second rate TV with poor sound. The housekeeping was below par, with cobwebs in the bathroom , previous guests detritus in a drawer and a bedroom light that did not work. Our room was hemmed in my neighbours and thus quite dark. On the plus side the kitchen was well equipped and the location is very handy to the main shopping/restaurant street but a wee walk away from the ocean beach. Secure undercover parking is a definite bonus. Suggest if you plan to stay here pay more for a higher floor room and ask for the South Wing. Not sure if higher level floors have heat pumps for heating and cooling but our room did not.

Room Tip: Ask for the South wing and a high floor.

I had hunted high and low for a place to stay at the Mount/Papamoa on an unexpected overnight trip. Found this as I was driving around and while I had checked online to see if there was any room available - and while it said the last room had been booked 17 days previously, I also saw a sign outside that said there was accommodation available. So, in I went on the offchance, and the charming manager David said there were indeed just two left. The ground floor apartment was spacious, so well appointed in terms of anything you might need, with a separate kitchen area, separate - very comfortable - bed, a good shower AND a washing machine and dryer tucked away. I loved that the ranchslider doors of the unit were able to be opened right up to let in the cooler air. I travel a fair bit, so it was really refreshing to pay what I consider an excellent price for an apartment which is superior in what is available in it, to the average motel room. Just a quick walk to shops and restaurants, a minute to Pilot Bay - what more could I ask for? Loved it and WILL be back.

The room we were in was pool side. Rooms were in great condition. Nice pool area with BBQ's. Location is very central to Mount Maunganui. Staff was friendly and helpful in organizing some nice walks around the Mount. Great surfing beach very near by. Fun town, great place to stay.

Spent one night at The Anchorage in a level 2, 2 bedroom apartment. Bedrooms and living room had doors onto the lovely pool area and deck. Views of Pilot Bay were slightly obscured by building next door, however this didn't bother us. It was great having a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and sitting area, however the location meant that many cares and restaurants are in close walking distance. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. As a family we are looking forward to returning soon.

Stayed here just one night & would definitely consider again. I am not sure about the space available in all apartments however I was allocated a 2 bedroom suite that for a single gave me plenty of room to spread out & ideal for a family. The rooms & bathroom were clean & hotel very secure in terms of access control to lobby & accommodation area. The apartment was self-sufficient with large kitchen space if wanting to dine in & only concern was TV / instructions not as user friendly since the last guest had changed the default channel settings for Satellite TV, maybe something that should be checked by those preparing room for new guests to save a frustrating 20 minutes trying to resolve. Free street parking also a bonus although option for secure parking too.

Stayed here for 2 nights in rm 104. It was lovely, spotlessly clean, looked like newly decorated, great appliances. This was a really good apartment for an awesome price. Walk across the road to the beach, round the corner to the bars and restaurants. And the owner or manager was really friendly too.
