We booked this online, and I wish I had checked this website first, as I would never of stayed here. Our room was on the second floor, the bedroom wall backed onto to the external corridor & also lift, it had a window with wooden blinds which did not fit the window properly so you couldn't have the complete window covered while sleeping. It was noisey due to people coming in & our of the lift and general foot traffic. The couch in the lounge looked like it needed to go to the dump all the springs were buggered & very old & tatty looking.
Balcony looked out to a large apartment block - so no sun or views of anything. The balcony was covered in cigarette ash - so no cleaning had gone on prior to our check in. It felt really grubby.
The apartment was a 1bedroom but very small, pokey & no air con.
The lounge had the same poorly fitted wooden blinds which didn't open or shut properly.
I would think it's had nothing done for many years. The only good thing is the location to hot pools across the road.
We only stayed 1night instead of 2 as it was that bad!
This is far from a 'resort' it's an old dump.
I have since heard since telling people about our experience that some of these rooms are privately owned so therefor some have been kept up to standard & some have not.
This is still unacceptable for a place that advertises as a 'resort'.

Thsi is the second time we have stayed at the Calais.
First time in a studio apartment. This time in a 1 bedroom.
We found the apartment very dark. Not enough lighting, especially over the bench.
Shower door we could not shut.Jammed.Toilet seat when turned to reach toilet paper the seat came with you.I think a bit of maintenance would make these apartments great.Had to request rubbish bins got emptied.Lipstick on wine glass. Not good.Cupboard doors over bench had finger prints galore on them, around the cupboard handles.

Went to Mt Manganui for one night with my wife, son and his partner. Managed to get a two bed apartment at this hotel at short notice. Apartment was spacious, immaculate, very comfortable and clean with excellent facilities. It is located very close to both an excellent and safe beach and the busy restaurants and shops of the Mount.

We booked 3 nights and were given 1 free total 4 nights.

It was my mothers funeral and we were sad - When we booked in they also had upgraded us from a one bedroom to a three bedroom so our children from overseas could stay with us which was so thoughtful.

The rooms were very tidy, quiet and there was excellent secure parking.
Will go back there again.

Room Tip: We had a middle room which was very quiet. Second floor.

Yes, it is a good location, good price, not new but has everything you need. I'm always a little amused though when you go to the reception when checking out and they just take your $1000 and never bother asking you how your stay was, how did you find the service etc. etc.? Last year we had our unit properly serviced once during our 7 day stay. This year it wasn't serviced at all during our same 7 day stay. ???

We were 4 school friends catching up for a couple of days and decided on Mt Manganui. Calais was very reasonably priced and location was appealing. We were delighted to be upgraded to the penthouse upon arrival. Staff were very helpful during our stay. Easy walking distance to cafes, shops and attractions.

Fantastic location.Ideal for Families. Cleaning needs to be improved unless you are partial to cobwebs and poorly vacuumed carpet.Still good value for money if you can look past this.Attention to detail could make this a perfect place to stay for a long-term holiday. Well appointed apartments.
