“Still excellent!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2013

The Papanikola Guesthouse, a year later, continues to be a diamond in the ruff.
Such a lovely and amazingly decorated small guesthouse!!
Even though under new management, the staff is so friendly and helpful, it is a pleasure to stay here. This afternoon I asked if there was an iron available to press a pair of slacks that had been rinkled in the suit case, the staff person said, just give us the slacks. 15 minutes later, they came back perfectly pressed. This year, this guesthouse also offers (new) an above ground swimming pool. Simply amazing

Room Tip: make your reservations in advance as this is a small hotel .

Escaped Athens with our two young sons and found peace in Piana. Less than two hours drive from the concrete chaos, and only 20 minutes from Tripoli, you enter a forgotten village with one of the best views in Greece. The silence is thick. Nearby walks - including one to the cave shelter of Pan himself - take you back to a time before machines. Further afield is the Mainalo ski center, as well as Dimitsana and Vitina - beautiful, miraculously preserved mountain villages. The Papanikola Xenona is not like other hotels. The architect/owner poured lots of TLC into the building and details and it shows. Guests find company in front the living room fireplace in winter; no TV there, although there is a huge screen for addicts in a basement playroom. We played word games with other guests while enjoying a glass of wine by the fire. Breakfast is very full and varies daily. Dinner must be sought elsewhere; we had a fantastic taverna meal at Ano Davia, five minutes drive away. We loved the place and plan to return in the heat of summer for a completely different experience.

If you are looking for s place to relax, be pampered, feast your palate and eyes, walk in nature, visit caves, play games in front of a well built fireplace Papanikola Guesthouse is definitely the place for you. Gina, Dina and Jeremy are wonderful! Always there, giving advice on possible walks, hospitable almost to a fault, with a large smile on their face. The Guesthouse itself is very welcoming, the food is excellent. Very good for families with a large playroom, big couches and a balcony with simply breathtaking views.

I ll definitely come back. What s more, it is only two hours from Athens and it is also reachable by bus.

Evgenia and her team, Dina and Jeremy will make your journey the best one. You fell like home with a great view on the "God's mountains". in the village, Evgenia knows everybody and can arrange for you diners to the tavern on the place or to the little "Kiriatoula" place. Good food, a greece that for sure you don't know. I was twice to the hotel, in the winter ( February) in in august.
Evgenia and Dina knowall the roads for trecks in the mountains and if you want to see a great temple, just go to Apollon Bassae Temple ( 1h from piana). for the summer, the nearest beach is Astro , 1 hour again and after a hot day what else than a fresh night for sleeping well in "morphée's arms".
I'm crazy about this place !

We spent 2 nights there with my husband and our 5-month baby. The hotel is just incredible!!The decoration was great ,even the last detail had been thought, the room was so cozy and there was also a travel cot for our baby. The breakfast was delicious,we will definitely go again!Just keep in mind that there is nothing around for food. The nearest restaurant is 20km away (to Vytina or to Tripoli).

Beautiful cosy and warm just like athome Hotel in a very peaceful environment I recommend it to families, couples and groups interested in extreme sports such as rafting mountain biking etc. As soon as you walk in the staff and owner help you to your every desire and are indeed very friendly. It takes not long before they walk up for a friendly chat.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2011

I spent a week touring the Peloponese and this was to be our first night out of Athens. We chose it for its location, and easy drive from the airport, and the beautiful photos on the website. The inn was more beautiful in person than I could have imagined. Each of our rooms lovingly furnished and decorated with antiques and folk crafts, but without lacking any creature comforts (a brand new, modern bathroom, in room fridge). And great beds (I've reached an age where bed comfort is REALLY important).
In the morning we woke and packed our beds, heading down for breakfast and to continue our journey, but when the 5 of us met for the breakfast, the views captured us and we were stuck. Instead of moving on we dawdled over our breakfast of homemade breads, rich & thick Greek yogurt topped with local honey, and cheeses and then set out on foot to explore the village visiting the folk museum and the church.
In the afternoon we set out by car and visited some neighboring villages, stopping at the closest one for dinner before returning to Piana, where we settled in around the fireplace, relaxing with a delectable local cinnamon liquor. It was really hard to leave this heavenly place in the morning.

Room Tip: Get a room with mountain views, you'll have breathtaking views morning and night.
