Owner description: Peaceful lake nestled in the mountains and surrounded by lush, green forest.

Emerald Lake is in Yoho National Park in British Columbia. It is 10-20 minutes away from Takakkaw Falls, Spiral Mountains, and Natural Bridge. It is 30 minutes from Lake Louise and Lake Moraine in Banff National Park in Alberta.

It was well worth the drive to come to this lake. It is just gorgeous. There is also a small gift shop and rental paddle boats.

Keep in mind that the weather in the mountains can be terrible at different elevations and angles. You are already 5000 feet in the air, so you are in the clouds. When a storm comes in, there is no getting away from it. We did not have good weather, so I felt we were cheated because we could not walk around.

we briefly stopped by on our way home. This is set just off the highway. You need a park pass to go there and you need to have it before you set off as there is nowhere to buy it once you get off the motorway and the first notice you get is on the way there and by then it is too late. Parking is good and there are very good facilities there. Youc an even hire a canoe for an hour for about 35cad. you can spend quite some time here if you go exploring or you can do as we did, just a quick photo stop, either way you will enjoy it. before you get to the lake yo pass the natural bridge and that is a wonderful sight.

Access from the HWY is short, maybe 10 minutes. Good and large parking lot. Only one restaurant which welcomes patrons for lunch or dinner only. And what if I want a cup of tea with a scone? The lake has a wonderful round trail, about 5 km. It took us a little less than 2 hours because we had done it slowly, enjoying every step and every view of the lake and the snowy mountains. Worth coming back.

If I ever visit this lake again, I will be staying here. This was such a cute and beautiful place. A perfect 3.1 mile flat hike around the lake is a great leg stretcher. This was my favorte place out of our entire Banff trip.

The color of this lake is like no other around. It really is something to see. There is a 5 km drive from the town of Field, BC up to the lake. The lake has a small island in the middle of it that houses lodges and a convention center. There is a bridge going to the island that you can cross to get to the island. Canoes can be rented at a small gift shop at the base of the bridge. Very easy walk and very tranquil.
