Owner description: Peaceful lake nestled in the mountains and surrounded by lush, green forest.

Came across Emerald lake on route from Banff to Kelowna by mistake however as the name suggests the lake is indeed emerald in colour and the scenery amazing.

We decided to hire a canoe for an hour at $37 which was not bad at all. Got helped into the canoe and made our way into the middle of the lake and took some photo's.

Returned o the dock just inside the hour and really enjoyed the views away from everyone else who had turned up on mass on coaches. A must to visit if you can.

We had visited Lake Louise prior to coming across Emerald Lake and it was frozen. So it was lovely to experience a Lake of such beauty in such a great way.

was out on a week long trip to Vancouver Island , had a great bit of traveling in Yoho . the downside to visiting Emerald Lake was that it was still frozen over , still a beautiful area though.

We visited this most beautiful lake and it was still frozen. The place is fantastic. You are surrounded by such overwhelming and intense beauty. Make sure you walk across the bridge, and if you are able you can walk around the entire lake on a path in about 20 minutes. Visit the cute gift shop, it is a fun place to shop.

I've never seen such a beautiful lake! The lake is an amazing colour and is quieter than the tourist attraction lake of Lake Louise.

Beautiful in Winter, the lake is frozen solid, and the frees are all frosted in snow. Great area around for cross country skiing, and for snowshoeing. Exceptionally pretty (if a bit cold), and not many people around. The trails are easy to follow and well maintained. We spent a whole day snowshoeing around, in peaceful solitude. Plenty of animal tracks, lots of foofy snow. Definitely worth a visit, and not far off the main road, and not far from the small town of Field, where there are lovely hostels/guesthouses to stay in. Can rent x-country skis or snowshoes from Emerald Lake Sports, on the edge of the lake. A cute and cozy shop, the owner is very helpful.
