“A WONDERFUL COUNTRY RETREAT”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2013

We spent three splendid days at this wonderful bed and breakfast and every effort was made to ensure our stay was comfortable and attentive. This hidden gem is perfect for walking, pub food and stunning country views. The owner provided a hearty breakfast and the solution to any queries we had about the area and places to visit. We would fully recommend this bed and breakfast as a perfect base to explore this beautiful countryside.

Visited Bagnell Cottage this weekend. What a fabulous guest house. Eileen who runs it was very welcoming, the room was huge and very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and we were able to come and go as we pleased. The guest house is situated close to Ham Hill and the surrounding country side was beautiful. Will definately go again.

I stayed here recently for a few days with my wife and daughter to attend a wedding in the local area and I'm glad we made the right decision. I've even felt a little sorry for others who stayed elsewhere! Eileen was a wonderful host. She made sure every effort to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible and the breakfasts she provided were amazing! I may have opted for a Full English a little too often, but I was on holiday. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

I was a little alarmed when I picked up my phone in our room and saw no signal available, but that moment soon passed. There was WiFi available, a lounge area, some videos, an extensive selection of books and Eileen was also able to provide recommendations on local attractions.

For a taste of the countryside, some fresh air and a friendly and welcoming service, I heartily recommend Bagnell Cottage.

Stayed here for one night in March on our way to visit some friends. This is a lovely little place, nestled amid rolling countryside, it’s a haven of peace and tranquillity. I can recommend the ground floor room, spacious and well appointed and spotlessly clean, with a large and comfortable bed. We also had access to a beautiful sitting room with all sorts of thoughtful touches – plenty of books and videos (there was a video player in the bedroom tv) and even a chess board. Decor is sunny and tranquil with a hint of art deco. We were warmly welcomed by helpful host Eileen who also provided us with a top quality breakfast. Would not hesitate to use this B&B again.

We spent three fantastic days in the Somerset countryside with friends. Eileen was very welcoming with lovely spacious rooms, clean and very comfortable beds, we had the most filling of breakfasts and choice of how you like your eggs, nothing was too much trouble for Eileen.
There was a lounge for visitors and as there was four of us we had a night in with drinks and a good film with alovely log burner going which Eileen prepared for us.
Eileen also has a very good knowledge of the area, and is keen to offer any help on local walks.
we ate down the road at the The lord Nelson pub twice and food was truly delicious.
We are aiming come back in the summer to fully appreciate the countryside. We certainly had a great time thanks to Eileen and her son Brendon.

We stayed for a week's B & B at Bagnell Cottage with Eileen and her delightful animals. The cottage is reached along a small country lane and the countryside around it is beautiful with Jacob's Sheep and Red Devon cattle in the fields en route. Eileen is a wonderful host and her breakfasts are delicious with free range eggs from her own chickens. The cottage is so peaceful and the room had everything you could wish for including a corkscrew! There is a fridge in the visitor's lounge which is useful as we had sandwiches instead of going out on a couple of occasions. When the time had come to leave we felt as if we were leaving a friend's house and we will definitely be returning in the summer to revisit all the N.T. properties and see their gardens at their peak. Thank you Eileen.
