Stayed for a week during the Rotary international conference. Rooms clean and well maintained. View from balcony very good. Breakfast satisfactory.Restaurant menu could be a bit better with a few more options. Front desk staff very helpful. Only problem is a long way from down town Lisbon and transport can be a problem if you don't have a car

The hotel is near enough to the city for taxis to be affordable but far out enough if you want peace and quiet after a day sightseeing in the city. The hotel offers a fixed price taxi service to various destinations. Alternatively reception staff will ring a local taxi - we never had to wait more than five minutes for a taxi and it cost between €13 and €20 for a taxi depending on where we were going in the city. There are a large number of taxis in Lisbon so it is easy to get a taxi back to the hotel - though it is a good idea to bring the name and address of the hotel with you.
The hotels facilities are great and every area of the hotel was clean and well maintained. The staff were very helpful and efficient. There was a good selection of food at breakfast.

We stayed Solplay Linda-a-Velha in early June 2013. This was our third return visit. Best option if budget can stretch is one bedroom and separate living cum kitchen area. Kitchen has fridge freezer, cooker and washing machine. One has to ask for iron and board. Pity some bulky items that would not be used up in a week’s stay are not passed from last visitor on such as washing powder, salt and cooking oil.
Large sized balcony but can be windy, the ones facing the pool less so. Great pool area but water cold in June try the indoor pool.
TV had a few English sat programs. Breakfast great coffee
We used the bus to commute. The hotel is located right at the edge of the Lisbon bus service. The local vimeca company will get you to Lisbon bus 11 or Alges but does not appear to have a daily 24 hour ticket. We walked to the far end of Av 25 de Abril, past Lidel to use the Carris bus service which has the daily 24 hour ticket usable in Lisbon. The ticket can be bought in the newsagents / Lotto shop (closed Sundays) on Av Dom Pedro about six minutes from hotel. The clock does not start ticking till the ticket is first swiped on the bus / metro
The Carris bus stop to and from Lisbon is on Alameda Antonio Sergio just after the second roundabout
The route of the 751 is Linda-a-Velha - Alges – Blem (change here for tram 15E to Central area of Lisbon – the Parc Comercio
The route of the 748 is Linda-a-Velha - Marquês Pombal (weekdays only and excl public holidays so the 751 is then the only option)
The 24 hour ticket has risen to €6 in 2013 but that gets a return to Lisbon, use of the metro, Carris bus, and the trams both modern and the little old ones within Lisbon.
One little tram that brings you up the steep climb to Castelo de São Jorge – this round trip in itself costs €2.60 without the daily ticket – it’s just about impossible to walk up the steep hills.
In June the hotel provided a fee bus at 9.30 to Lisbon Marquês Pombal - we used this once and got the Carris bus back.
We dined out in the restaurant A Grelha. Walk from the hotel to Av Dom Pedro proceed to the second last road on right hand side of Av Dom Pedro turn right and restaurant in in front of you on Rue Anteron de Quental. Search using Google street view – it’s a maze on first visit
They do great deals on a full chicken and chips for two. The chicken is cooked within sight on a large charcoal fire. The best is black pork steaks, if available on the day. There is no English menu but one waiter speaks English and one can always select from the raw meat and fish displayed in the fridge which is viewable from outside as one enters. This place is a step above the typical charcoal chicken restaurant so its well worth moving up a price notch and selecting great beef, pork or veal steaks and wine a selected by the waiter rather than the house wine. A bit of a walk but worth it
All Portuguese restaurants charge for bread, butter, cheese, olives that are place on table and eaten by diners. No big deal but they can add unnecessary expense since portions are typically large
Av Dom Pedro contains two supermarkets and a butchers so once should get all food / drink supplies without walking to the main street Av 25 de Abril, to shop in Pingo Douche or Lidel. The is also a Continent supermarket on the way to Alges – 12 mins walk.
In summary one needs a car or be prepared to walk to get the best out of staying Solplay

Besides a fantastic view over Tagus river, I has upgraded in the room and placed in a double room apartment, with full kitchnette, and king size balcony with view to Tagus River and April25th Brigde. It has all perfect conditions for a relaxed stay, with full Spa facilities (full body treatment + pool + jacuzzi + sauna + turkish bath + gym). Fair enough breakfast. Free internet rooms and free indoor parking. More than words, I can show you some pics. It's a lovely hotel. Loved it all. Shame the weather, was no sun at all to try outside pool.

Room Tip: Tagus river viewside

We have stayed here for 3 days with 2 older children and family and enjoyed it. The rooms were clean and everything is inside and with a large balcony some with 2 sunbeds and a nice view .
The breakfast was good enough for the price we paid included the room. The lunch (2x)was very well.Everything in the hotel was in good shape.A very good reception /free wifi/ a computer corner. The area outside is very nice with enough sunbeds/lounger/hammocks.Rent a car is no problem with reasonable prices. Bus stop near the hotel. At 10 am free ride from the hotel to the city center. Very good bus drivers from the hotel to places to go were you want with 4 or more persons under the price of two taxis in a luxury bus.Only the weather wasn,t 5 star but we enjoyed the hotel and their staff. The location is outside of the center but in a good area with a nice view and other places are near by in time and distance.

I travel to Lisbon regularly and this time I decided that it might be nice not to stay in the city centre and worry about parking the car.

I couldn't believe the low price of the rooms at Solplay so I decided to try it and I was not disappointed.

Rooms were clean and cool and ours was set up as a studio apartment. We had a full kitchen with oven and washing machine, separate bathroom and large balcony.

There's a huge pool with loungers and an 'in pool' bar (although it was too cold for swimming when I was there) and amazing views of Lisbon's bridge. There is also an indoor pool with a jacuzzi for when it's too cold to swim.

There's a high speed wireless router in each room - suggest the hotel adapts its description because I almost didn't book here because I thought wireless was only available in 'public places'.

The steam room/sauna are adequate although there are separate ones for men and women.

All in all, superb value for money if you're looking for some time away from the bustle of the city. There's not much to do around the hotel so be prepared to hang around the pool all day or you'll need to take a car or taxi into the centre (about 15 mins drive).

Breakfast was amazing, with loads of fresh fruit, eggs, yoghurts, cheeses, pastries and eggs. Also the biggest nespresso machine I've ever seen and a machine to make sweet, fresh orange juice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over the pool; bigger balconies and a bonus view over the city.

Very nice hotel. The two bedrooms appartments are of superior quality. The breakfast was perfect.
Unfortunately, due to cold weather ,we could not use the outdoor swimming pool which looked great.Fortunarely, Solplay has also an indoor pool.
The indications how to get to the hotel by car are scarce.
We stayed on the 4th floor facing the pool and the sea, that was perfect.
Insonorisation between floors however could be better.

Room Tip: choose top floor rooms to avoid over head walking noises.
