We recently stayed at the Don Carlos, Marbella. Hotel is situated in beautiful grounds but the dtandard of the rooms very poor, definitely not 5 Star. We noticed cockroaches in the bathroom and food at the hotel very poor indeed. We had to eat at Nicky Beach during lunch as all tha pool restaurants in the Don Carlos are overpriced and poor food. Not a hotel for people who understand what a 5 Star Hotel shoul be as the rates they charge are definitely 5 Star. The rooms are also very tired and our smelled of cigarettes.

We stayed at the Don Carlos for the second time this past April. Just as good as ever, the staff go above and beyond in my opinon, could not be more helpful and geniuine. Having our little one with us this time (2 years)made sure we got even better service, and they generally made a great fuss over him. One down side which another reviewer has mentioned was the food, and I agree it was not upto DC standard but we could see that some works were being carried out and this has obviously had an effect on the kitchens, saying that, any problems or complaints we had at the time over the food were addressed straight away and the items removed from the bill. I'm sure they will have everything back and running smoothly soon.
Once again a great muchas grasias to all staff at one of our favourite hotels, hopefully we'll all be back in the summer as it just doesn't get much better than the Don Carlos.

We just came back from the don. The hotel is lovely, nice rooms, beautiful grounds, pool etc.
Except the service and food was very hit and miss. Buffet breakfast was vast but on 3 occassions the 'hot' section was cold and they just couldnt make scrambled eggs! The main pool restaurant was the worst. Dont try it, slow, overpriced and for some reason just one person taking orders and 6 others cleaning up. Go to the beach club. However, generally the staff are friendly and accommodating. They have a great kids club which is completely free.
The Don is expensive but worth it.

Stay at Don Carlos for 3 nights - very comfortable rooms with lovely seaview. The staff at reception are very helpful - The hotel is located just out Marbella town but have loads of restaurants just walking distance from the hotel. Lovely garden area when you walk down to the beach club......

I have to tell you about the fabulous evening events which are held at the Don Carlos. The price of 55e included cava aperitivos, and a fabulous dinner with wine included. Starter of smoked salmon salad, then scallops, then lamb for main course and a lovely dessert. Music and dancing. On the night we were there we were entertained by a welsh tenor. A fabulous evening. It was Friday, so afterwards we went up to the bar Terassa where an amazing Cuban band were playing salsa music until the early hours- Havana V. They play there every Friday.
