Reviewed 17 June 2014

located in Mae Rim district of Chiang Province, these serene quiant villas( five in number) are owned and managed by Ian(a Scot) and Pop(a Thai)
Both Ian and Pop treat each of there guests as personal guests. For us they had arranged a bike, gave us a map and advised us on the places to visit and eat They also allowed us to use there microwave but above all took us out to the most amazing thai feast.
Photographs often do not do justice to a place but in this case if you like the pictures posted by the guests, I am sure you will find the place would be better.

I would advise people visiting the place to call before arriving for directions and for any special requests.

Ian and Pop are sharing their beautiful and serene premises with their guests. Very private, Thai style villas of different sizes are surrounding their own house, all quietly set back in a huge, nicely landscaped garden. Our villa was sitting right on top of a fish pond with a shaded porch. We spent most of our time just sitting there, enjoying the quiet, beautiful serenity of the place.
It was furnished in a very practical down to earth way, but lacking nothing. Everything was clean, working well. Breakfast on the terrace of the main house is simple, but delicious, always served with a big smile, making you feel happy right from the start of the day. Ian is very helpful and knowledgable when it comes to recommending activities in the Mae Rim area.
A beautiful pool (no chlorine but saltwater - nice!) with a selection of beach loungers, gazebo, and shower offer a pleasant way to stay 'at home'.
Overall a very beautiful and quiet place to spend your holiday away from the 'big city' Chiang Mai, but still within a comfy 45 minutes drive from the airport.

Pop and Ian are great hosts, warm and welcoming. Their homemade breakfast is excellent, their rooms and common areas are beautifully decorated their gardens are beautiful and pool makes you want to throw ... The location requires to rent a scooter or car to explore the area but Ian and Pop can handle it for you. In short, this idyllic location is really ideal for nature lovers! The owners are really lovely and good care of me, even inviting me to dinner with them. Very good experience, I intend to return on my next trip to Chiang Mai. Fantastic hotel.

Well, everything is said about this wonderful place by the previous speakers, so we will only add a few remarks. We had a perfect relaxing time, Ian and Pop were like family to us, even the breakfast was adapted to our wishes ( we had a delicious rice congee). Pop had a lot of useful tips for restaurants, orchid farms, special places where you can eat like the locals, but to make this experience you should rent a motorbike or a car. The pool is a dream and also the well-kept garden. Take a walk and you will discover a lot of nice sculptures made by a local artist. When we come next time to the north there is only one choice: Mae Nai garden!

This is an ideal vacation resort for those who love nature surroundings and quiet environment. The bungalows (only five or six?) are located sparsely in a naturally designed garden with no unnecessary fancy stuffs. All you hear are sounds of birds and insects. The hosts, Ian and Pop, are extremely helpful. They offered good suggestions on sightseeing points and dining places. I followed their suggestions to two restaurants in the old city: Ginger and Chez Marco and both are of high standard. Don't choose this place if you are a city lover and cannot tolerate small insects.

My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights in one of the bungalows in Ian and Pop their garden. What a wonderful, quiet and serene place is this.
The bungalows are situated in a beautiful garden, with more than enough space between.
Pop and Ian were very helpful with aranging transportation for example.
The last night of our stay we had dinner in Mae Rim with Pop and Ian which was lovely.
Thanks for having us and being so kind! We had a wonderful stay!

Staying at Mae Nai was one of the top experiences of my life, and I am really old. The indescribably gorgeous landscaping, the exotic jungle sounds during the night, the understated art work and decorations in the rooms, and the made-to-order breakfast served by Ian himself made the Chiang Mai region unforgettable to me. My party needed no entertainment. Ian lent us bikes to ride, there was a swimming pool at our front door, and a darling "restaurant" down the road called Artist Farmstay, where the owner let us pick our own mushrooms to add to our curry. The word "paradise" in one review sums up Mae Nai Gardens.

Room Tip: Our rooms were in the Hyacinth building.
