I stayed at Honeycomb Valley with a couple of friends, all of us in our 30s. No matter how old or young you are you will have fun on the farm, and learn stuff too.

Anna and Andrew and their kids are fantastic hosts. We learnt so much from tours of the ethnobotanical gardens (where every plant has a purpose) and through a walk down the bee runway leading to the bee motel :) Makes you think twice before swatting away every bug lest you hurt one of our awesome native Aussie bees! We even had the opportunity to suit up to get an up close look at the hives that produce the honey sold in the shop.

What made Honeycomb Valley awesome for me was that there's no itinerary and you're free to roam wherever you like, joining in whatever's going on as you like. We milked Betsy the goat when she demanded it (meh-eh-eh-eh-eh!), chased down a stray sheep (that we may have let out by accident ;), cut bamboo for planting, and in between we played with the alpacas, goats, sheep, and moos. And we watched the fluffy butted chickens that almost look like they're wearing pantaloons as they waddled around. We may have eaten a few of their eggs too.

If you're after a fun, genuine, farm experience where you can choose how much you want or don't want to do this is the place to do it. And make sure you cook at least one meal in the solar oven. It's mindblowing!

We are from Hong Kong and has a team of 6 persons, 3 of them are my kids. We booked the farm 3 months ago.
We had did a research on East Coast farmstays, either was far away from our journey or cannot accommodate 6 persons. Finally we picked Honeycomb farm which fitted both our requirements, more importantly, the farm got track records and awards in last few year gave us more confidence.
We arrived late on our check-in (7pm) in a cold evening, but we received a very warm welcome from Andrew n Anna, (farm owner, in fact, they delayed their trip so they can catch us up in that evening. Thx, Andrew!) together with his team (Ben n Charlotte). During the 3 days visit, my kids were very busy...feeding the baby lamb, feeding the chickens, riding the pony( named Rose), playing with alpaca, saying hi to Hollywood (the horse), going around the farm with Ben and Charlotte. Surprisingly we could see the Milky Way during the night, a river of stars which was beyond description. What can you say but stand still and enjoy the God's Amaze!

Andrew and his team was very helpful, my kids and I enjoyed very much during the stay. It is highly recommended that it is a chance to return into nature and get refresh yourself.

Hello Ben and thank you so much for being so kind to write a review. Your family and children were absolutely delightful and we can only hope one day you will return to Australia and we get to enjoy your company again. The Milky Way is still sparkling this week - just beautiful. Thank you again for coming to holiday with us and all the very best to your family. Andrew & Anna.

We stayed with Andrew and Anna for a weekend in June with our 3 and 5 year old girls. We only booked the weekend as we weren't sure how it would be in the winter--it was so much better than our expectations. The lodge was perfect and cozy just a short walk away from all the animals. We had campfires at night with marshmallows and the day was full feeding the animals, playing with them and exploring/learning on the farm. What made it special was the hospitality Andrew and Anna provided. Andrew was great with the kids and teaching them about the animals and Anna was generous sharing her insight into life raising kids on the farm. Being from Sydney it was so great for our girls to learn more about animals and a different way of life. While we usually like to explore different areas we've agreed this is a place we'd love to come back to every year.

Hey gang, thanks so much for the lovely review! The kids were just delightful and it was so nice sharing the farm and the animals with you...though we were a little worried she was going to sneak a goat into the boot to take home with her! Bee well & hope to see you next year. :)

As a care worker with the disable in the local area, I am always looking for fun, interactive, outings. This is safe, welcoming, happy place to visit. The visitors are encouraged to hug as many of the animals as they like, as many times as they like. They are able to feed farm animals, collect eggs and taste the farm produce. The honey tasting is a must. The farmers, Andrew and Anna, are so friendly, will happily talk about their animals, gardens, and take you on tours during the day. The children loved being in the trailer behind the quad bike the best. Bumping along from paddock to paddock feeding goats, alpacas and cows. There was plenty of room to run about. What a fantastic place to find in the Manning. I have taken visitors there 4 times and they can't wait to return.

Our family - 2 adults and 2 kids - stayed at Honeycomb Valley Farm for 5 days in mid January. It was a wonderful experience and our kids started asking to return while we were still there!

I grew up on 5 acres and Honeycomb Valley Farm, with its 100 acres, reminded me so much of my happy childhood. I was pleased that our kids could experience some of that life.

Our days were spent following the rhythm of farm life. Our generous and kind hosts, Andrew and Anna and their three children Josie, Zac and Darcy, gave us many opportunities to participate: doing the morning rounds of feeding and letting the animals out on foot and on the quad bike; preparing the pony and having a hand led pony ride; feeding the animals; helping out with chores like fencing or clipping the animals. We watched honey being spun, visited the extensive gardens and talked to Anna about the various uses of the different plants, wandered down to the tyre swing. Andrew and Anna are passionate about their property and helping you to experience it. My kids were thrilled beyond measure and we were thrilled with their reaction to the experience.

There are only 2 cottages on the farmstay. This means that at one time it is only you and another family. This ensures lots of opportunities for the kids and adults to be involved. You are never pushing your way through crowds. My 8 year old son had 3 or 4 pony rides, drove the quad bike, helped with fencing, and had lots of one on one time with Andrew. It was terrific.

The accommodation - 2 bedroom cottages with a large living area/kitchen and bathroom - is comfortable, clean and cozy, right in the middle of the action with chickens roaming around waiting to be fed. Generous breakfast supplies are provided for your first morning and you can collect as many eggs as you like (we ate lots of scrambled eggs).

We visited during the week that Sydney had a 45 degree day. It was extremely hot too on the farm but we stayed cool in the fantastic salt water pool (which has a shade cloth over half the area) and with the air conditioner in the cottage. It is also an easy 20 minute drive to Forster where the sea breezes made things cooler. Following two hot days we then had two rainy days followed by a fine day. Each day we found more than enough to do no matter the weather. In fact, we hardly spent any time off the farm, although there is lots to do in the surrounding area (the sweet little town of Nabiac, Forster/Tuncurry, Gloucester).

We loved our time at Honeycomb Valley Farm and meeting Andrew, Anna and their wonderful kids. We came home with jars of homemade honey, homemade goat's milk soap, delicious ginger bread bee biscuits and wonderful memories. We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful holiday we had at this beautiful farm! Andrew, Anna and family made us feel so welcome and treated us to an amazing farm experience that we will never forget (feeding and cuddling the baby goats will be such a precious memory for our children - our daughter had tears in her eyes because she didn't want to leave them!). The cottage was lovely, clean, and the handmade soap in the bathroom a beautiful touch. Such a peaceful setting and the fun we had collecting eggs, spinning honey, munching on stevia, rounding up sheep, toasting marshmallows, swinging on the tyre swing, will be remembered always, Thank you so much!

As a kid we spent much time in the bush, and we have been searching for a long time for the experience H-Valley provides. We have stayed for a total of 16 days since finding it late in 2011, and we will be there much more in future. I copied the words below from another review, but could have picked many of the reviews, as they all speak appropriately highly of the experience. One comment we would like to add, and we think this is a terrific measure, is that our kids didn't even mention the word "computer" for a record 8 days! When the word finally came out, it was with no conviction.

"From the moment that we arrived Andrew had our 3 children involved in the farm activities, our children were all feeding baby goats and sheep, collecting eggs.
Andrew and Anna and their family operate a very hands on farm stay with great patience and explanation allowing the children to participate in everything that goes on in the everyday running on the farm whilst also educating everyone along the way as to why things are done.
Our children were out rounding up sheep, letting out the chickens and putting them away again at the end of the day, having a horse ride, paddle boat rides and swinging on the tire swing plus lots more there was too much to do to fit into a weekend.
It will be great to see the new gardens grow and develop into the vision that Andrew and Anna have over the next few years.
The native bees and tasting their honey is a rare privilege and it also very educational.
I wanted my children to experience farm life as I did as a child, but Honeycomb Farm not only provided the animal experience but also the warmth and friendly atmosphere that staying at your families farm is like. I could not recommend it highly enough but just be prepared that as soon as you leave the front gates to come home your children will be asking when can they come back".

Room Tip: There is no need for a gym, or other amenities usually sought after in a hotel, there is too much to...
