A regular visitor to Calahonda this was not my first visit to this restaurant. My wife and I dined at about 7.15 on a Sunday night.
There were 5 other diners already eating when we arrived. Chang (the owner – his wife does the cooking) was his usual cheerful self. The restaurant hasn’t changed in the years we have been going. The menu is the same and the food presented in the same way. There is space for 30 diners but there is rarely more than 2 or 3 others eating. He does have tables to eat on the Terrace outside, if he gets busy – unlikely!! The Terrace has a nice view of the high points of Calahonda and also the main N340!!
For the first time of using this restaurant, I felt less than happy – the Spring roll starters were fine, my wifes Chicken and Mushroom was fine, but the portions seemed smaller than I remembered them, the rice quickly cooled (he didn’t provide a heater as is usual) and my duck was stringy and greasy and the sauce a bit congealed. As usual we had a complementary Chinese liqueur at the end in risqué tumblers…. We paid 4.50 euros for a main course.
Overall we thought it was okay – our scores (out of 10); Food 7; Service 8; Ambience 6; Value for Money 9.
