“Peace and quiet in the countryside”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Stayed here for the weekend, for my birthday! The location is perfect, peaceful and in the heart of the countryside. The lodge itself is nicely decorated and very clean. A few things that would add to the luxury and would have made my stay even better would be soap/toiletries in the bathroom and a hand towel for each person staying. It would also have been nice to have a dishwasher and was surprised that this was not put in instead of the washer/dryer which we never used. I would also suggest that the kitchen utensils and pots/pans are replaced as they are looking a bit worn and that the fridge door stand is fixed in Cedar lodge. We were looking forward to some farm produce during our stay, however after trying the farmhouse on many occasions we were unable to get any. However we loved the sauna, which nicely cleared up the last dregs of my cold, with the Eucalyptus infusion and the hot tub was very relaxing. Would highly recommend a day out to Framlingham and a meal at the The Crown Hotel and if you don't want to got too far The Ivy House at Stradbroke has amazing home-cooked food. All in all a great weekend and would definitely considered returning.

Room Tip: Elite lodge with hot tub and sauna is great for relaxing

Overall the log cabin (caravan covered in wood) looked appealing and welcoming. The cabin was clean but not sparkling ie the cooker and windows had not been cleaned. The while cabin would benefit from being updated. But a relaxing weekend.

Our first holiday with our new puppy and I wasn't sure what kind of accommodation to expect as dogs were allowed but even though we only managed to book an original lodge and not an Elite it was fine. The lodge was spacious with a bathroom and ensuite and clean my only issues were the bed was uncomfortable a new mattress could be in order and the curtains were filmsy and we had to hang towels up to darken the room. The hot tub was lovely and we were blessed with lovely weather. I liked the fact the lodge overlooked the large playing field and I could keep an eye on my son whilst he played on the trampoline or play equipment. He had great fun with the other children staying there. Nice to have so much open space as opposed to Haven holidays where every inch of ground is crammed with another caravan. Here the children could play football, cricket and there was great space to walk the dog. You do need a car to get about to shops and pubs etc and if you are after entertainment this is not for you but my six year old had more fun stargazing from the hottub. We found dog friendly pubs and places to visit including the oasis camel park and the Norfolk Aviation museum, Framlingham Castle and the Suffolk Punch Trust. I would definitely recommend and hope to book again for next year.

Room Tip: If you want luxury go for the Elite lodges but the originals are fine if the Elites are all booked a...

Me and my boyfriend have just arrived home from a lovely weekend at Athelington Hall. It was our first visit here, and we stayed in the Walnut Cabin (elite 1) it was SPOTLESS! We were shocked at how spacious the lodge was! We made good use of the hot tub.. and sauna! The location is very peaceful, literally in the middle of no where but that's what we wanted.. didn't see another soul the whole weekend!!

We took our own food & DVDs, was a perfect little getaway. Sad to be home. Would highly recommend Athelingyon Hall! We will be returning :-)

Booked Original cabin and found out Original meant 12 years old, dirty, tatty, broken toilet, trim coming off shower, marks all over walls and flimsy curtains. Complained and got free upgrade to Elite. Completely different story. Spacious, clean, bright and only 3 years old. Location - took over an hour to get to Southwold. Single track roads with poor signage. Lovely and quiet location. Conclusion - go Elite only and only go if prepared to drive. I wont be returning

We stayed with other members of our family Willow Lodge. The lodge was clean and well presented when we arrived. The lodge is in a peaceful setting with plenty of space around. It's fairly well equipped for a short stay. My daughter and myself used the hot tub several times which
Was lovely, the only downside to this was there was nowhere inside or outside to hang wet towels
or swim suits, we had to revert to hanging these over chairs etc so they would dry for next use. A
dryer of some sorts would be useful. The oven was a bit tricky to use as the markings on the dials
have become faded, but we eventually got there. Overall I would say this lodge was good value for
money, but missing a few little things that would make it better.

My husband and myself booked this cabin (Athelington hall plus) as we wanted to meet up with family from this area. We were really pleased with how nice the area is and how tranquil the setting is. The cabin itself was very clean and had everything you need for a self catering holiday. The hot tub is a fab addition and was lovely to sit in at night time and relax. The cabin itself reminded us more of a caravan than previous cabins we have stayed in through Hoseasons. If we were to return we would probably book an Elite cabin as they did look like a better standard. Overall we did enjoy our break and the relaxed atmosphere and lovely setting did make for a nice peaceful stay. Thank you
