We stayed at 1 Kings Cottage in July and had such a wonderful time. We are family with 2 small children aged 4 and 2 and this cottage was perfect. The children enjoyed exploring the garden and the short walk down to the shore. The cottage is very well equipped with everything a family needs even down to games for the children. We loved the remoteness of the location yet everything on the island is still within easy reach. Would recommend this property to anyone visiting the island. We hope to be back again next year.
Kings Cottage is located along a narrow lane on a private estate very close to Osborne House, with good access to the rest of the island (if you avoid Newport at busy times). The accommodation is extremely clean and particularly well equipped, with an enormous garden perfect for children - or adults - to play in. Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits on arrival were very much appreciated, as was the welcome visit from the owner with tips about local amenities.
A gorgeous property which we would definitely stay at again if we revisit iow. Really secluded which was great but we did feel like we were trespassing when we walked down to the pebbly beach. The garden is fantastic for kids and the trampoline was a massive hit with us all. Only downside was would have appreciated darker curtains in both bedrooms as we were awake super early each day but would definitely recommend to stay here
We stayed in Kings cottage for our family summer holiday this year and loved the property. I picked this location as all the times we have visited the Island we have not stayed this side before, unfortunately I hadn't realised it was Cowes week and it was very busy in the area. We loved the location of the property and combined with the directions and looking at it on Google earth we had no trouble locating it. It was very clean which I love, kids loved the game's and toys, the beautiful garden, the secluded location, everything you needed, all fantastic! A couple of things I felt that could possibly help with staying at the property was there was no information about the estate we were staying on and it felt very secretive, me and my daughter walked through the beautiful wood to see the sea shore but wasn't sure if this was allowed at the time? also my husband who goes for a run, said he wasn't even sure if he was meant to be on the very privately marked footpaths... The only other small negative was that I felt an extra charge for the bed linen and not really having much contact with the owners during booking & renting the property. On that note though,I would say that it was one of the best cottages we have rented on the Island.
This was our second stay at Kings Cottage and we love the tranquil surroundings. It's quick road links for us to visit our family who live on the Isle of Wight, visit the local sites, and the beautiful surrounding countryside provide us with a rest from our busy working lives.
First off I want to thank Iris and David for supplying us again with such lovely accommodation. Kings Cottage really is a gem of a place.
My fiancée and I come here for the peace and quiet and the relaxed nature of the area. The house is always perfectly clean with all that you could want in a self catering holiday cottage. Many thanks for the additional items that were in the fridge and the lovely Juice you gave us when we met.
I am sure you will be seeing us again some time soon. Regards Mike and Jane
We really enjoyed our stay here - the cottage was a home from home feel and a really quiet location. Lots of toys for the children to use and enjoy and we really enjoyed sitting in the conservatory in the evenings. Would definitely use again, we even enjoyed not having any wifi!
