“Gorgeous location, good standard of rooms, food great”
Reviewed 26 March 2013

I stayed here for 2 nights in March with a large family group. The staff were always very helpul, especially the waitresses who were lovely and cheerful. The food was of a high standard with large portions. The breakfast was really lovely, the most delicious eggs I've tasted in a long time! The room was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. The location was spectacular but unfortunately I didn't have time to explore and it was minus 3 the whole time I was there so it was rather bitter!

We(group of 4) stayed 5 nights in the Fox & Hounds and we were looked after exceptionally well, even the weather was good(March). The food was of a high standard with a good choice and quality. The rooms were excellent and lovely and warm in the cold weather. The position was excellent for all locations and we had wonderful views from our rooms. The bar and locals were friendly and we had a thoroughly good time.

We visited with family who live nearby over the Chtistmas break. The pub is in a beautiful location with wonderful views over the Moors. The food was fine, that's all I can say really, nothing special but not bad either. One of the waitresses was friendly and very helpful, the other was rude and made us feel like eating there was an inconvenience for her. I wouldn't rush back but would try it again if we were in the area!

We hadn't stayed here for several years but booked for three nights in January while visiting family in the area. Very comfortable, warm room. Clean, we'll furnished with good sized bathroom. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. Well stocked bar with roaring coal fire and friendly conversation with both staff and locals. Plenty of variety in the menu and extras on the board. All well cooked. Excellent breakfasts. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Fox and Hounds.

Spent New Year in North Yorkshire, renting a charming cottage. It was the 2nd of Jan and wanting a nice evening meal out.( any excuse not to cook! )

We were recommended the Fox and Hounds and decided to drop in .

The pub was quite but a welcoming roaring fire. There is a seperate dinning room but had the choice to eat where a table was free. we sat ourselves in the dinning room.
The menu was varied with traditional dishes. The portions are very good and the service was friendly and with a smile. Good choice of Beer and Ales which went down well.
all in all a lovely evening, bellies full..... Thankyou

My husband & I recently had lunch at this lovely old coach inn & enjoyed not only the food but the pleasant surroundings & the good service.
The restaurant was clean & the menu extensive.
My husband had the steak & I had the steak pie.The veg were presented separately & the chips were brown & tasty.
We were also presently at the price of the meal.
We will highly recommend the meals here.We haven't stayed here but I'm sure it will be good if the restaurant's standard is to go by.

A lovely spot for a country inn and very good base to tour the Nth York moors from. Not the friendliest welcome, but oh well! The rooms are pretty basic but very clean and tidy. We didn't have dinner in the restaurant, but we tried the puddings in the bar after our day out exploring.... yummy. A very nice breakfast awaited us the next morning as we left for the Dales.
