“Warm hosts, beautiful location”
Reviewed 30 May 2013

We spent our 10th wedding anniversary at the Notchland Inn this Memorial Day weekend and it was absolutely fabulous. The innkeepers really made the weekend. Adam, who teaches ice climbing, gave us great hiking tips. Les and Ed are just the most laid-back, gracious hosts, and the dogs are a gem. Actually there are a host of other staff from the hostesses, the cooks, the maid, who are all just wonderful, friendly, and welcoming. The dinner is very good, and worth the $40pp, especially since the inn is located a few miles away from anywhere. We were there to hike Mt. Washington, which is about 15 minutes away. The scenery is beautiful. The rooms are cozy. The woodburning fireplaces are a nice touch. They have gotten new linens since some of the reviews said that they are tired so I don't have any complaints about the bed. Overall, a great experience and this is coming from a person who traveled 5 days a week for work for three years.

Room Tip: Crawford has great views out both windows, but we peeked into Kinsman, and they have a HUGE bathtub...

It doesn't get any better than this. After a delectable dinner in the music room, we had the delight of lighting the fire in our room. Beautiful. Three hikes within a couple of miles of the inn, fireplace and good food, greeting at the door by Gypsy and Crawford (oh, and you too Ed, of course).... seriously a wonderful, "get away from it all to a little splash of luxury" long weekend. Thanks Mary Anne. Thanks Michelle. Thanks Ed. We were spoiled rotten for a few days at your wonderful inn, and thoroughly recommend you to everyone.

Room Tip: All the rooms look wonderfully finished, decorated, etc. And all have a fireplace. Just pick one!

My girlfriend and I spent a long weekend here about a year ago (March 2012) and we had an incredible time. We got the trip as part of a groupon without knowing anything about the inn. We could not have been more happy with our experience. We were greeted right away and checked into our cozy room. Les and Ed were so friendly and knowledgeable about the entire area. They found tons for us to do throughout our stay. We also had dinner at the inn which was amazing. Each course was better than the next. I can still remember the entire meal a year later. We will 100% be back and I highly reccommend the inn.

Room Tip: Each room will have its own story. Ask Les and Ed!!

We have stayed at the Notchland about 6 years ago and once about a year after that. It is a very clean, welcoming place. The owners go out of there way to be sure you are very comfortable and have everything you need at all times. Lovely gardens to walk about and they have an outdoor hot tub for guests to use. Rooms with fireplaces and small oil lamps made it very romantic, relaxing place for a anniversary weekend. Breakfast was --one of the best we ever had at a B&B. You can dine there for dinner--4 course meal, nice and quiet in the small glassed dinning room. The Dinners are wonderful.

Room Tip: First floor rooms are the best ( and a bit larger )

my boyfriend and i are both great lovers of country inns and wonderful food. here i saw the opportunity for both. we went up the first weekend of february to celebrate his bday. we have stayed up in the area many, many times before, yet never there. yes, there was a miscommunication re: the reservation, yet the owners and staff went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one. our room was lovely, the fireplace was the ace here. i wish i had brought some marshmallows. breakfast is varied, delicious, and as bountiful as one wishes. the dining area is comfortable and with all our meals there we enjoyed both the calmness of the solarium and the peacefulnessof the scenery, watching the birds enjoy the feeders. the inns dogs, crawford and gypsy, made me feel at home. i cant say enough about the notchland inn. on saturday night, my guest requested a steak for his bday. although it was not on the menu, they served him what he described as the perfect fillet while i enjoyed the duck. the delectable biscuits that were served as rosemary/cheese reappeared plain in the strawberry shortcake. we thought we had died and gone to heaven. i look forward to returning as the weather warms.

Myself, husband, sister and brother-in-law enjoyed a lovely weekend away in one of the cottages. The property, staff and friendly dogs were great but for the price we expected more. The breakfast was nothing to jump at. The cottage offered great views of the mountains and the snow as it fell. The fireplace and large tub was a nice romantic touch. The kitchen lacked a few items that I would assumed to be stocked in any suite kitchen. The Inn also lacks cell service which we didn't know until we got there. Both mornings I had under cooked eggs. In every room of the cottage one of the ceiling seams were peeling away. If we had to do it all over again we would stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: Bring a few DVD's (not Blu Rays) and games

My wife and I enjoyed a very lovely 5 course dinner for Valentines Day. The courses were each interesting and well prepared and presented. The atmosphere was lovely and the wait staff were charming. A great place for a special treat.
