House - huge kitchen and two very large communal rooms. Clean bathrooms and bedrooms. Bluetooth sound system, satellite TV, DVD collection and great WiFi.
Outside - large and private patio with views for miles along the deserted valley. Forested grounds all the way down to the river at the bottom. Lots of interesting large insects but with the fly screens, they stay outside :-) Super night-sky and silence save for the crickets and occasional owl. Can easily spend the entire day on the patio reading, internetting, snoozing, sunbathing, picking out deer on the opposite side of the valley - binoculars provided.
Surroundings - about 5 minutes (drive) from the nearest village (Greoliere) with a handful of excellent restaurants. Spectacular scenery around every corner. About 40 minutes to the nearest supermarket and an hour from Nice / Cannes / Monaco. Canyoning on the doorstep with lots of other outdoor activities for those inclined to break into a sweat.
We had the occasional 'biblical' thunderstorm but even when Nice was a humid 35 degrees the house stayed no higher than 25 inside despite the lack of AirCon.
Already planning on going back in either early spring or late autumn. Nikki was the perfect host - always available on WhatsApp for even the most trivial of questions. Brilliant holiday.
We stayed at La Maison Du Loup from 12th-19th May 2018. We had a fantastic time away and absolutely loved the house. It was big enough for our 4 year old as he had loads of space inside and out where he could play and run around. We also had our 10 month old daughter which Nic provided a travel cot and High chair which was a huge help.
The house is stunning with absolutely amazing views of the mountains and valleys.
From the house you can hear the river running past. Such a lovely sound at any time of the day.
We didn't get to eat outside on the terrace as the weather wasn't as warm as it should have been but we did play outside with the children quite a bit. The bean bags are cosy. We didn't use the BBQ which I was gutted about but a nice touch to have one.
The house is split on two levels. Both children slept on on the bottom level which connected up to the kitchen and living room. Both had comfy beds and a shared bathroom. They loved the bath.
Upstairs there is a really nice living area more for adults with a TV although didn't really watch TV. Lovely comfy sofas. A huge bathroom. Both bathrooms have underfloor heating. There is a rainfall shower head which is lovely and very powerful. The water was very hot. Very spacious.
Both upstairs bedrooms are spacious with very comfy beds. Enough storage in each room. Also carpeted in every bedroom which I love.
The kitchen is very well equipped with every utensil and pot and pan. Loads of cuttlery and crockery. I love the island in the middle which also has a dedicated hole for compost. Great idea. Dishwasher included and all of your dish washing equipment was provided.
A washing machine which was very handy in the utility room.
There is WiFi at the house which is good.
This is a fantastic house for a family. We definitely will be staying again. You will definitely need a car to get around and the little village is so beautiful with old ruins and lots of little places to explore.
We walked down to the river once as we had badish weather at the beginning of the week so couldn't really go outside much. The walk down is beautiful. Through a lovely woodland. Once we were there which was about a 10 minute walk with two children, it was lovely. We saw a huge Deer just drinking out of the shallow water. He saw us and went but it was lovely.
There is a lot of places to build dens with children. We added to one which was already there. Our 4 year old loved it. We also went bug hunting and found lots of creatures.
I practiced yoga outside everyday and there is also a mat to use so you don't have to bring one. The cupboards have a lot of board games and a few games for the children to do.
Nic the host is such a lovely person and will do anything to make your stay that little bit better. Highly recommended.
A wonderful house in a beautiful mountain location. A quaint village close by (Gréolières) and Nik, the owner, is an awesome chef and a fantastic hostess.
I would highly recommend La Maison du Loup, it's just incredible and perfectly located. Nik, our host, was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating too, it was more like being at home and we're already planning our next visit!
A big thank you once again Nik!
This is one of the best weekends I've had. The setting is just stunning. There is even a river at the end of the property and a short walk away, there is the most gorgeous dipping pool. The town is close by with a choice of restaurants but to be honest the food cooked by the host was way better that the restaurant we tried out. There's loads of great hikes and if you are feeling brave you can go paragliding. I can't recommend this spot enough, whether its for quiet weekend away or a group of friends looking for fun times.
Nik was super helpful from the beginning and very accommodating when our flights were unexpectedly changed, she amended our booking without any fuss.
We were a family of 6 and the house easily catered for all of us. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed and more (the kids loved the hammock). The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, designed for a chef it was was easy to use with everything we needed for eating in.
The setting was so tranquil, no traffic noise or no human made noise to be heard and not another house or building in sight. Sitting out on the balcony for every meal was a joy.
Nik kept in touch through out our stay answering all our questions immediately even booking us into a local restaurant for the night we arrived.
There is so much to do in the area we would definitely love to return.
Beautiful place and views! We appreciated the privacy of the house and the walks!!!
I recommend this house to everyone. Is a place to connect with nature. The house is near to Greolieres with all the amenities you need. restaurants, bar , cafe..
