The best thing about the hotel was definately the staff. Damien was lovely and helpful and the reception staff great. We had a company dinner in the library and the food was delicous. Having just stayed at Biillesley Manor the the previous 2 nights, there is no comparison with regards to service and standard of food- Ettington Park everytime. I stayed in room 35 and thought it very nice and didn't hear the lift at all, although I would agree that it doesn't seem to be the safest looking lift I have travelled in and choose to use the stairs!.

A group of friends had a very entertaining night just before Christmas when we dressed ourselves up in our finery for the Sherlock Holmes Murder Mystery (SHMM) night at Ettington Park.

The weather was horrible and wet, but the warm welcome and roaring fire in reception cheered us up no end.

I have used Ettington for both business (private dining) and pleasure and have been very pleased with both. The service has been excellent and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly (and remember you from previous visits!). Ettington has the wow factor, with history and character thrown in - I also like the fact that the bedrooms are all different.

The SHMM night was great fun and we and other guests were able to join in (dress up!) and play characters from the mystery (in this case the 'Blue Carbuncal'), which was played out from arrival with pre-dinner drinks in the drawing room (with a splendid Christmas tree adding to the atmosphere). The meal was held in the South room (which has an amazing fireplace) as mystery continued and culminated with coffee and the great reveal of the murderer. The chap running the night did a really good job and drew everyone in to guessing "who done it".

Dinner was excellent:- Confit Chicken and Tarragon Terrine, Apricot Chutney, followed by Traditional Roast 'Bronze' Turkey, Cranberry Sauce, "Pigs in Blankets" and Lemon Stuffing. Mince Meat and Walnut Tart, Orange Ice Cream and Freshly Brewed Coffee & Mince Pies.

After all that, I'm surprised I had room for breakfast, but I can recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs!

We had a bit of soggy walk around the grounds before checking out (note the wellies by reception) of our lovely room and we came away feeling festive and rested.

We stayed two nights to attend a wedding. We have stayed in Country House Hotels and in our view this is posing as one and it just isn't. We had their best suite, it was not a suite, it was a junior suite priced as a full suite. It was very 'brown' with the most awful carpets. The pool was fine but absolutely no service at all. They have a problem with ventilation from the kitchen as the first night we were there they had a wedding with a fish course, one of our family had the room above the kitchen and it was awful. When we arrived we were told we could book into our rooms for 3 (later than most hotels) check out time is 12. We asked for early check in and they said they would try, we arrived in 3 family groups and it was chaos, we eventually got our room at 3.30 after constant enquiries, our family with tired children got theirs at 4 and it still wasn't made up properly.

The wedding was good but we were very much herded into particular dining rooms for breakfast dependant on where the wedding was taking place, we also noted that the level of orange juice changed in the 'wedding morning after breakfast room', no tables laid at 8.10 when they were supposed to be opening at 8. They were also reluctant to give us breakfast menus preferring us to have something from the hot dishes. The food is fine when it comes, staff service is mixed.

The drink prices are very expensive and so are the full rate for the rooms, spoke to other guests that were staying as just hotel guests rather than wedding guests and they all seemed to be on special deals which might make it more value for money.

To be fair it was December but we had seen the gardens in the summer, they are not gardens one would normally expect at a place like this, they are more parkland.

The place as a wedding venue is fine as they package it so I suppose you know what you are getting and can plan within a budget but it is rather a conveyor belt and throw anything out of the ordinary at them and they struggle to cope, especially on reception.

Room Tip: Do check your room is not above or below where a wedding evening venue is taking place or above the...

We were delighted when we visited Ettington Park for a Warwickshire Dinner that it was such a splendid occasion.

Because w have stayed in the hotel so many times before, we are always a little wary that we go with great expectations which are not met by reality. On this occasion we went as a special birthday treat and we certainly weren't disappointed.

The reception was warm and pleasant. The hotel receptionist seemed to know who we were before we arrived and knew what we liked and disliked, what newspaper that we would prefer and even our car registration number.

We had taken a standard room instead of a suite but it was clean, comfortable and fine for one night.

Before the dinner there was a champagne reception and canopies in the grand drawing room.

The dinner itself was a multi-course affaire with beautifully matched wines to go with each course and the service was impeccable.

Some of the food was really exceptional and the desert made with fresh Warwickshire berries was amazing.

Attentively warm and friendly service throughout.

A wonderful evening but which might have been made almost perfect by a few more candles in the room used for dinner.

Room Tip: Have one in the mansion house.

My wife and I went for an Afternoon Tea. The booking, how we were received and the service throughout the visit was excellent.
The house is well worth a visit in its own right and the history over the ages we were given was absorbing.
We were served in the Lounge which is a superb spacious room with very comfortable chairs.
We had the Champagne Tea and the champagne was very good.
The aftrenoon tea itself was good though we did not feel matched the rest of the occasion.
The sandwiches in our opinion were not quite as dainty as might be expected, the tea was very strong, we had to ask for hot water, the jam for the scones was average and the cake selection was in our experience a little unimaginative.
However as three things make an occasion - surroundings, service and food - the abundance of the first two made up for a slightly less than excellent peformance on the food.
We looked at the dinner menu and will certainly be returning for dinner and will at some time have another afternoon tea.

We booked only a couple of days before our stay for one night at the Ettington Park Hotel. We opted for their special offer of cream tea, dinner, bed and breakfast which in itself was fantastic value for money. The hotel itself is very impressive set in lovely well maintained grounds with plenty of car parking.
Step inside the hotel and you are greeted warmly, nothing is too much trouble here. Check in was a breeze and quickly sorted and on to our room which we were shown to by a lovely and knowledgeable man. The room was a nice with tea and coffee making facility and fresh milk (and 2 bottles of water) in the fridge. Big TV and very comfortable bed.
The scones that came with the cream tea were delicious, fresh and slightly warm and were taken in a lovely room that overlooked the grounds.
We looked forward to our evening meal and were not disappointed. Canapes and a pre-meal drink before being shown to our table for our meal. We knew the meal was going to be good but it exceeded our expectations. It was fantastic. The service was efficient and friendly, all the staff here work hard and it shows.
We had hoped to go for our walk in the morning (after a great nights sleep) around the grounds (wellies provided if needed) but time caught up with us and it was time for breakfast. Again lovely food, and plenty of choice from full English to pastries, fruit etc.
It was a shame to have stayed for only the one night but it just means we will be returning, maybe for longer and we will take that walk.

Went here with work for business away days. A stately home feel complete with grand decor, high ceilings and lots of space. The venue catered reasonably well for the business element with regular refreshments and an ok buffet style lunch - although they wouldn't provide a simple salad despite the amount we were paying. All the more unusual as they catered for a dairy free diet!

Bedrooms were pleasant and spacious with decent bathrooms and good quality bedding. Staff were attentive and polite. Evening meal was of a good standard and the wine list offered some good choices.

We are going back...
