“Character, Charm, Comfort and 1st Class service”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

A totally relaxing experience from the point I turned off the main road onto the long driveway leading to the hotel through to check out two days later.

I had a very comfortable and clean room, the hotel is set in attractive parkland and the service was excellent throughout my stay.

I am not easily pleased, I have stayed in a number of hotels in the Stratford area in the last five years, all claiming a similar star rating, this one is the best so far, I would definitely return.

We had a great weekend at the hotel recently. Its well located at in the country outside Stratford-on-Avon. Everything about it is lovely - the location, the grounds, the house, the public rooms, the restaurant, the bedrooms.

The staff in particular were very friendly, chatty, taking a genuine interest in what we'd been up to during the day, the play we'd seen at the theatre in Stratford.

The grounds include a very interesting ruined chapel.

The restaurant is a very high standard with lots of lovely items and a menu which changes regularly.

All in all I couldn't find anything to fault.

It is not that often that my expectations of hotels (irrespective of star ratings) are met let alone exceeded, but this is the case with Ettington Park. It is not cheap but you certainly get what you pay for.
We were in much need of a relaxing break, having not had a holiday for a couple of years due to illness ands family commitments and that is certainly what we got here. The setting and the building are magnificent and the staff are all superbly trained, polite and pleasant and unobtrusively efficient., always addressing us by name and remembering likes and dislikes even after a short acquaintance
Our room in the main house was superb, large and spacious with well planned storage, 'Fridge with fresh milk and mineral water which were replaced daily., the bathroom was equally splendid with an enormous roll-top bath( not my thing personally but if you want to wallow this is the place), double shower and robes. Another plus point was that they did not have those irritating clothes hangers that you have to fit in to little slots!
Food, breakfast and dinner were wonderful, served in an atmospheric panelled dining room with views of the ruined chapel and grounds.
My only regret that we were not there for longer.

Room Tip: Our room in the House was quiet and spacious, Because of the distance from any roads , I don't t...

My husband and I went to Ettington Park Hotel for our anniversary. The staff at the hotel are amazing, special thanks to the receptionist and concierge that were working on our arrival.

Our room was lovely and enjoyed using the hotel facilities, including the pool.

We booked dinner for 8pm so went to the bar for pre-dinner drinks and lovely canapes. Then went through to the dining room for dinner, the food was good but maybe not as good as it should be for the price but the most dissapointing thing was how long it took for our main course to come, we waited about an hour between starters and the main course coming. When I asked one of the waiting staff how long our main course as we had been waiting a while he replied 'the chef is doing his best'. There were a couple of functions on on the same night but I would have imagined that this would all be factored in by the kitchen.

However, still a lovely place to stay - the hotel is amazing and the front of house staff make your stay very special.

Despite booking this through Secret Escapes, I was overwhelmed by the venue (including a fantastic room), choice and quality of food (home made scones divine and great choices for dinner, beautifully presented) as well as the attitude of the staff. The natural banter and 'can do' approach was refreshing and a credit to the hotel and brand - as I will definitely be staying at more 'Handpicked' hotels in the future and have recommended the place to anyone who will listen.

The place and the outlook are lovely. The staff are courteous and the cream tea was smashing but the beautiful rooms we're let down by the shabby furniture. The sofas and chairs in the drawing room and south room should have really been replaced about 5 years ago and look more in keeping with a junk shop than a swanky hotel. The bathrooms could also do with a luck of paint and the cupboard door in the ladies has refused to shut for every visit we've had! I do like the place very much but wish it received a little more TLC in its upkeep.

We booked a 2 night stay at this historic hotel and first impressions as you drive up are pretty reassuring. However, our room was a long walk from reception and had a tiny window. On the first day there was a noisy sales conference in the hotel and on the second a large wedding. As a result the dining room was overcrowded, half the breakfast items in a corridor and dining conditions were claustrophobic. Bicycles were available at £5 per hour and the lounge full of the groups mentioned above. We had paid a very good rate for our room but were very disappointed withy the value for money. Suggest you avoid -we certainly will.
