“Beautiful Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2013 via mobile

This place is a wonderful choice in the already wonderful Batu Karas. It may seem pricey for Indonesia but it is a good value given the amenities. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is a nice touch. We stayed in the downstairs cheaper rooms which are good as well as the more expensive upstairs rooms with AC, TV, and great views. The owner is really nice and you can tell that he really took his time when building this place and really takes his guests needs into account.

The hotel was extremely clean & beautiful to stay, relaxing & welcoming. The staff bend over backward to help you and make you feel a part of their family. I loved the surf and also watching everyone else enjoying it from our room view. We stayed for 1 week and I would've loved to stay longer. We took a mini bus from Yogyakata which was the worst way to get there, took 8 hrs on a pot hole road. I would suggest taking the train from Yogyakata then mini bus or fly from Jakarta to nearest airport which is I think an hour away. When you get there it is well worth it.

Room Tip: We had the delux double. Huge room with day bed on the top floor so you get all the view right from...

We stayed for 5 days and wished it was longer. The hotel is a credit to its staff and owner - absolutely awesome! It is ver modern and honestly I could suggest anything that would make it better. Our room was excellent with great views over the point, beds very big and comfortable. Bathroom, big and clean. The owner has done a magnificent job rennovating this place to make it look and feel funky and modern, and the pool area is terrific.....
Batu Karas is a small village on the beach in West Java, lots of local tourists during the day and quiet at night, a great place to chill out from the chaos of Kuta. Surf was good too (considering we went off surf period). Its like Bali was maybe 20 or so years ago with no hawkers pestering you!
The staff were terrific and attentive when needed, and the prices of food and drinks was really good too. If you like surf, lazing around the pool and beach, a bit more surfing, and doing not much this is heaven on earth! Plenty of day trips if you so desire to keep you amused! We liked it so much that as soon as we got back to Australia we rebooked for next year.
The remoteness of the place works to keep the hordes away - about a 7 hour drive from Jogjakarta on some very dubious roads - but once your there it makes it all worthwhile. I didnt really want to post about this place, like to keep it a secret,, but it is so fantastic that I couldnt help myself.... just do it!!!!!!!
So to Mark the owner and terrific staff - a big cheers from the Gibsons and see you in May (22 weeks and counting down)
Terimah Kasih

Room Tip: Big rooms Upstairs are best - views to die for

Stayed for 4 nights. Very clean rooms and hotel, immaculate grounds that are well looked after. Very friendly and professional staff! They can arrange everything for you from renting a motorbike for the day to getting transportation back to Jakarta. Room was amazing with a beautiful view from terrace and the sound of waves to put you to sleep. Location, location, location. Included breakfast was appreciated and yummy. Only minor complaints were the pool area closes at 7:30pm, not sure why so early. Also, only 1 small waste basket provided for entire room, would have liked to have 2; one in bathroom and one in the room. Highly recommend to stay here.

I stayed one night in Java Cove for my solo trip, and it was a memorable stay. Due to its location in front of Batu Karas beach, guests can hear waves in their sleep. The rooms were designed with tropical interior design in mind. Unfortunately, its restaurant only served western food, but fear not the staff in charge would be happy to give recommendation of the best traditional restaurant nearby or what activities to do in your spare time. Their operation concepts were rather unique for Indonesian standards. You can borrow bike from a staff hotel, and have to paid directly to him, thus give extra allowance for the staff. They even arranged ojek (motorcycle taxi) for me to the nearest bus station without any surcharge. But I had to directly negotiate the price with the driver. I didn't complain as the ojek driver is also helpful and honest. When I checked out the next morning, the manager gave me a mug as a souvenir. It's a little thing, but I really appreciated their sincerity, hospitality and care.

An excellent place to stay!
We stayed at Java Cove from Saturday to Tuesday and had a wonderful time! Very nice rooms, good food and drinks, especially nice breakfast. Top place to learn to surf - even for people over the age of 50! Friendly staff and owner!
