“Anniversary Stay”

We stayed in the lovely Hotel for our 27th Anniversary. My wife enjoyed a welcoming massage treatment in the nice spa. We had a great meal with special treatment for dessert. Fantastic breakfast and the nicest room overlooking the lake. All the staff were courteous and attentive. We will be back again and stay longer.

Room Tip: The room with the spa overlooking the lake is fantastic.

We arrived and were greeted by a very gracious host who showed us the entire Estate. we were placed in the massage section. Two rooms and the massage rooms! Our room was about 75 metres from the main, [gorgeous] home. The room was rather warm, due to the fact that their was only a control for the floor, not the room. Fairly steep staircase as well! Decided to open the windows to balance the atmosphere and found their were no fly/mosquito screens. With the semi filled dam adjacent we were not prepared to take the risk with mossies!! Therefore remained a little uncomfortable.

Settling down for a relax we were disturbed with a staff member dropping off 2 bottles of water! Why was the water not in the fridge?

Had a nice meal in the brasserie, with an over priced and limited wine list. Nice but nothing special.

Over all for our stay I was disappointed. This was mentioned to the delightful person at reception. We mentioned that we felt away from the facilities of the main house by being in the spa area. She suggested that as the rooms were larger there, the felt we would like them better.

Great staff, nice food but undoubtedly better value is available abundantly.

Quick note about the bed, not comfortable at all.

Room Tip: Stay in the main house

Went there with a friend for dinner. It was warm evening and with long evening light due to daylight saving we sat outside. Staff were great - friendly and attentive. The food was also terrific, I had duck which was really tasty then we shared a cheese platter. Listening to the sounds of the water birds was a lovely way to have a slow dinner and relax. If you are staying in this area, I would recommend eating here for sure.

Room Tip: did not stay

My husband and I stayed here using a Groupon voucher. It was unfortunate that management did not allow us to book a Saturday night even though there was availability!!!
We were in a very small room overlooking the carpark. With the manor situated on such beautiful grounds - this was quite disappointing.

The room was comfortable, however, with tea making facilities and a jar of choc-chip cookies which was a nice touch. It seemed like the room had not been dusted for a long time, which was hazardous to my allergies, and my hubby had to do a quick wipe down. I also found the room quite chilly in the evening, but the beds/pillows were very comfy.
Continental breakfast the next day was minimal for the amount of guests staying (ie there were only 4 muffins!) but it was really peacefull to sit out by the lake and the service provided by Molly was lovely. It's a nice place to relax and explore the local area, however I think it's a little over-priced.

Room Tip: request a room not overlooking the carpark!!

Lakeside Chalet & Degustation Dinner.
Sitting on the balcony taking in the waterfront/lake views my cares a million miles away.
I had shouted both family and staff stays but was my first visit.
Nothing but praise for the accommodation, food and friendly staff.
I will definitely return.
Only gripe was the excessive surcharge for using Amex.

We stayed on New Year's eve for 1 night. I was a bit cautious about getting a garden room as there were some negative comments about them. I rang up the place and talked to Rick about them. He offered me the option of an upgrade next door for a better room if we were not happy. However, we thought the Garden room was really lovely. We were in the top level of the Spa retreat house. We had views of the pine trees and the mod grass tennis court. We just wished we had brought our tennis shoes. The room was nicely appointed with an LCD TV, DVD, ipod input speaker system and DAB radio. The furniture was tasteful and classic and the room had high ceilings and nice curtains. There was ducted air-con but also a pull-up window to let fresh air in the room. The pillows were the very soft kind which some people like but we are used to Latex pillows. However, as we read afterwards, you can ask the staff for some firmer pillows.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. The lake is very pretty and it is a nice easy walk around it. As someone else mentioned the breakfast hours seem a bit restrictive although it does say you can ask to arrange another time - not sure how flexible they are. The breakfast was very nice and the waiter very friendly.

We had a degustation menu with many dishes and glasses of wine. It was very tasty and was a nice touch to start out on the terrace by the lake for the 1st course before coming inside.
