Just had 7 great days in our two bedroom chalet. Along with our two teenage sons we made the most of the gorgeous pool and we all loved soaking in the spa with view to die for. We dragged our jet ski up the hill and had ample parking space. The Mapua Chalets are located right in the middle of Nelson/Tahuna and Motueka, so much choice. Kicking back quietly with a book or put the running shoes on and get your holiday exercise fix, we did it all. Chalets very self contained, had all our cooking needs, thrashed the BBQ and appreciated the on site washing machine. Rabbit Island, 10 minutes away, was our playground for the jet ski and surf casting. Thanks for a delightful holiday!!

Room Tip: Only queen size beds in two bedroom chalets (note VERY COMFY queen beds) but just ask for spare matt...

My husband Scott, 2 children (4yr & 2yr), and I (Alexia) stayed at the Chalets last November/December and had a marvelous time. We actually used to live at the chalets when they first opened in 2001 and we were so impressed w/all the lovely changes Karen and Andy had made to the property (i.e. pool, hot tub, landscaping). I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to stay at the Mapua Chalets....the chalets are super clean and very comfortable, all items to make meals are included in the chalets (pots, pans, fridge, etc), the views are the best in the region, and the hosts are truly fantastic. We stayed a couple of weeks this last time and by the time we left we felt as if we had made true friends in Andy and Karen. They are exceptional people and will go out of their way to make your holiday a memorable one. Our family reminisces frequently about our time there and are already making plans to return again from the States! We miss NZ and our little slice of heaven at the Mapua Chalets!

I loved staying here and experiencing the beautiful views, the hot tub under the stars, the comfy cottage, and the welcoming hosts. It was as quiet as could be up on that ridge top and the tiny town of Mapua was fun to explore. Don't miss having dinner at Jellyfish (Andy's great suggestion) where you will delight in wonderful dishes from the kitchen of Mark Mehalski, who just won Hospitality NZ's Head Chef of the Year award. May I suggest the Sicilian Seafood Soup with Grilled Sourdough? Yum!

Mapua is a great base from which to have your Abel Tasman Park adventure, and you're close to Nelson as well. And Mapua Chalets is just the kind of place you will want to come home to after the day's excursions. Highly recommended.

Once again, thank you Karen and Andy

We had 10 wonderful days at the chalets. Very comfy beds, and the spa is without doubt the best spa location we have ever been it.

Kitchen facilitIes were great, we even were able to cook a meal for 10 persons and enjoyed every minute of it. Our kids really enjoyed the freedom to run around up there and the views were stunning.

Very friendly hosts as well that offered a separate dinng table and a spare mattress to accomdate our extra child, at no extra charge!!!

We will definitely come back, and look forward to our next stay. a must for everyone staying in Mapua and the Tasman region.

Frank & Tamara

Room Tip: We stayed in Chalets 1 and 2 but they all appear to be equally great,

Karen and Andy provide a genuinely friendly welcome. We stayed for a month and were sorry to leave. The view from the chalet was wonderful. We made good use of the swimming pool ( a great size) and hot tub. The chalets are clean and comfortable. My wife made good use of the clothe washing facilities. We had a little trouble with the newly fitted oven, but this was fixed immediately. The beds are very comfortable and the chalets are quiet. Excellent shower. Wi fi provided which is a boon. Good barbecue and great to be able to have meals outside. Kitchen a bit cramped, but you can't have everything. Very good value.

Room Tip: All chalets look good!

Our family of four stayed at the Mapua chalets for four nights. Firstly, our hosts were very friendly and obliging. The chalet was very comfortable and clean with views that were beautiful by day and spectacular by night. We will also remember soaking in the hot tub and absorbing the scenery, for years to come. The chalets feels remote and yet you are in a superb location to explore the region and that gorgeous Mapua wharf is only 5 mins drive away. This place gets a huge thumbs up from us!

We stayed at Mapua for one night, and really wished we had booked a few extra nights here. First of all, Andy and Karen are great hosts - though we arrived late at night, Karen came to greet us and made really helpful suggestions for our next day ahead, and the next morning, Andy stopped by to make sure we were taken care of.

We found the chalet nicer than expected, and just really enjoyed the serenity of the area and the amazing views! I happened to wake up early enough to see the sun rise and the views were particularly beautiful since Mapua is up on a hill. We loved the little picnic bench outside our room and took advantage of it by having our morning coffee outside.

Another plus is its location. The chalets are just a little bit away from a quaint little town which we didn't have a lot of time to explore other than to have breakfast at the wharf. We wished we had more time to see more of the wharf - there were a few art shops, an ice cream/sandwich shop, a restaurant where we had breakfast and I think, a brewery. Also it's close to Abel Tasman which made it easy to get to when we left to go there in the morning. Will definitely come back on our second NZ trip, and also take Andy's advice and explore Golden Bay on horseback!
