Lovely views across the bay. Great Swiss chalet style. Plenty of room, ours was 2 bedrooms. Masses of outdoors space with two seating areas. A great place to sit out after dark and watch the stars. Pool facilities available.
Stayed here for two nights with my husband and baby. Fantastic place, gorgeous views, decent sized rooms, well equipped kitchen and bathroom was clean. The hosts were friendly and helpful. We managed to have a good soak in the spa while soaking up the evening views of Nelson too. Would definitely come back but would probably stay longer.
Just returned from our third stay in four years, happy as ever. Mapua Chalets are in a beautiful, sunny and peaceful location. The chalets are well equipped with everything one needs plus there is a spa pool and an outdoor swimming pool. A night time soak in the spa pool, gazing at the sea view with Nelson's lights in the distance is heavenly. Chalet management is friendly and unobtrusive. This was not our last stay!
Just had 7 great days in our two bedroom chalet. Along with our two teenage sons we made the most of the gorgeous pool and we all loved soaking in the spa with view to die for. We dragged our jet ski up the hill and had ample parking space. The Mapua Chalets are located right in the middle of Nelson/Tahuna and Motueka, so much choice. Kicking back quietly with a book or put the running shoes on and get your holiday exercise fix, we did it all. Chalets very self contained, had all our cooking needs, thrashed the BBQ and appreciated the on site washing machine. Rabbit Island, 10 minutes away, was our playground for the jet ski and surf casting. Thanks for a delightful holiday!!
My husband Scott, 2 children (4yr & 2yr), and I (Alexia) stayed at the Chalets last November/December and had a marvelous time. We actually used to live at the chalets when they first opened in 2001 and we were so impressed w/all the lovely changes Karen and Andy had made to the property (i.e. pool, hot tub, landscaping). I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to stay at the Mapua Chalets....the chalets are super clean and very comfortable, all items to make meals are included in the chalets (pots, pans, fridge, etc), the views are the best in the region, and the hosts are truly fantastic. We stayed a couple of weeks this last time and by the time we left we felt as if we had made true friends in Andy and Karen. They are exceptional people and will go out of their way to make your holiday a memorable one. Our family reminisces frequently about our time there and are already making plans to return again from the States! We miss NZ and our little slice of heaven at the Mapua Chalets!
I loved staying here and experiencing the beautiful views, the hot tub under the stars, the comfy cottage, and the welcoming hosts. It was as quiet as could be up on that ridge top and the tiny town of Mapua was fun to explore. Don't miss having dinner at Jellyfish (Andy's great suggestion) where you will delight in wonderful dishes from the kitchen of Mark Mehalski, who just won Hospitality NZ's Head Chef of the Year award. May I suggest the Sicilian Seafood Soup with Grilled Sourdough? Yum!
Mapua is a great base from which to have your Abel Tasman Park adventure, and you're close to Nelson as well. And Mapua Chalets is just the kind of place you will want to come home to after the day's excursions. Highly recommended.
