Description: The Gaggle of Geese has been under new ownership since September 2012, we have renovated and decorated, we are a traditional local pub serving good affordable food (which is all home cooked) for lunch, evenings, and weekends. We have chosen local ales and good wine. Relax by the fire, which is always lit in winter or sit in the sun on our patio during the summer, bring the family and the dog! We look forward to welcoming you for a drink or for food, enjoy sitting in the garden - Buckland Newton is seated in the heart of many lovely walks and gardens, we hope you enjoy your visit.

Friendly staff and sensibly priced food but could do with a third beer on offer. A pleasant visit was marred by two things. First the advertised beer garden has been badly neglected and the mens' toilets wre not too clean with a grubby piece of towel hung over a rail.
Come on Gaggle it is SUMMERTIME and customers enjoy a drink outdoors. These two points badly need addressing as they spoil what could be a good experience.

Lovely location and short but good pub menu, steak pie and fish were excellent, give the scampi miss its out of the freezer. Ale was good and very good value for pub grub bordering on gastro pub.

Lovely setting, great food and a lovely place to take people for lunch. The Landlord is very generous and holds a Goose Fair every year for charity - an event not to miss.

Beer ok, staff friendly but meal overpriced and not of very good quality. The dish of the day should not be expensive and the menu should have a wide price range. I felt the landlord thought his pub was upmarket-an opinion I did not share

As we were staying at a lovely B&B in the village, our friends and we chose to eat at the Gaggle of Geese so we could walk there and back. It was a lovely find, although the initial welcome was a bit strange.... maybe we looked a little odd, but the barlady carried on drinking her glass of wine chatting to some other customers, then went to talk to the landlord, who eventually came to see us at the end of the bar! Bit of a giggle as we'd never had that before.... Anyway, didn't matter a jot as the welcome after that was warm, the atmosphere in the pub on the Friday night was humming, and the food was very good. Two fish and chips, a veggie lasagne, and gammon, all were cooked and presented well. The other 3 shared a couple of puddings as well. All in all, a nice pub, serving good food at a reasonable price.
