Description: The Sprig & Fern Milton St was voted Best Bar in NZ in 2012 and Best Bar in Nelson in 2013. The success of the craft beer tavern, owned by S&F Head Brewer Tracy Banner, has been down to the staff and the people who call the Milton St "Sprig" their local. The atmosphere is very welcoming, just like a big living room but without a loud TV to interfere with the chatting. All the S&F craft beers are on tap and carefully selected regional wines from NZ. A very popular range of food is available which is delivered piping hot to your table. Our style is very much English pub meets Kiwi tavern. If you are staying in Nelson and you enjoy excellent craft beer and company you have to make your way over to the Milton St Sprig & Fern tavern.

“Lovely place to spend an evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

We ordered our food next door and headed in to the Sprig and Fern Tavern, where we all ordered very nice drinks and waited for our food to be delivered. The Tavern has a nice feel about it, with friendly, helpful staff and a good atmosphere. We had a lovely evening and I would come back again.

“Friendly staff, amazing selection of beer!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2013

This place is one of several (7?8?) in Nelson. We hit it up as part of our beer tour of Nelson, and we're glad we did. The staff were super nice and helpful, and we ended up getting a flight - of all the options! That's 18 beers. T'was awesome. A true local joint.

“Great selection of beers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2013

Feels like a proper pub with a really decent selection of home-brewed beers - they'll even let you taste a couple before you decide. Food (pie and chips) was good too.

“Great beer served by people who care”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2013

Not the easiest place to find, just going into this place could be a problem if you are nervous about walking into dimly lit bars where you don't know what you will find.

Overcome your reserve and you'll find some really interesting beer served (in our case at least) by someone who can guide you to one of the company's brews that is likely to be to your tase. Enjoy!
