After some shopping at the mall I decided to treat myself to lunch at Ginger rather than sit in the noisy food court of the mall. I cannot fault the food, my quiche was delicious and my green tea the real thing (not tea bag) however I thought a bit pricey at $14 for the two items. The quiche was not huge, just the right size for one person but prices were not in view I would have assumed not more than $7.00 but obviously it was as tea would not be more than $5. However I was not going to let that spoil my lunch. Then decided I needed a wee sweet treat to go with the rest of my tea. Chose an almond and orange friend which was delicious. Again though was surprised to pay $6.50 including the extra 50c charge for the tablespoon of yoghurt which came with it. I tried not to let this taint my lovely treat but did spout off to friends who I met up with afterwards so obviously it did niggle me. It would have been helpful to have prices displayed, to be told there was an extra charge for the yoghurt, and maybe I was charged for the chutney which came with the quiche as well. Also there was no urgency of service so this would not be my choice of lunch venue on a workday when time is limited. The staff were pleasant but I will not be going back in a hurry as I can get equally good food in other cafes in Richmond.
