If you have a car, and you want something interesting to see, go to the Old Kilcullen Monestary and round tower. It's a bit out of the way (and you may need a GPS) but the address is:

53°06'28.6"N 6°45'37.3"W

It was formerly the site of a walled town, and before that of an ecclesiastical settlement dating from the 5th century. Now, it's got the ruins of a round tower, 2 high crosses, an old church and a cemetery - all in the middle of a farmer's field. You have to access it by going through a stone fence and then up and over a set of old stone stairs built into the wall. Views from the top are stunning, it's quiet, the birds song can be heard - and because it's off the beaten track, it's some of the best tourism you can have.

To find Old Kilcullen ruins take the M7 from Dublin and exit at Junction 11 onto the M9. Drive for about 4 miles until you reach the exit for the R448. Turn right at the top of the exit ramp and drive for about a mile, you will pass a junction with the N9 on your left . Continue on for another mile or so until you reach a crossroads. Turn Left and drive to the end of this road. You will see the Round Tower ahead of you. There is reasonable space to park outside and a short walk up the hill by pathway will bring you to the site.
