We decided to have our wedding at Telunas Resort because we had met the staff and thought they were so helpful and friendly. This was the first wedding at Telunas and all the staff bent over backwards to make it a day to remember! The day was beautifully arranged with no hidden costs...the staff were honest and super helpful (and it definitely helped that they spoke perfect English). Our family and friends were all very impressed. We booked out most of the resort for one night before the wedding and utilized the incredible beach and boardwalks for our wedding photos. The food was excellent. We loved the rustic natural feel that suited the style of wedding we wanted (simple, family, fun). Thanks so much Telunas!

We're ranking the weekend we just spent at Telunas as the best weekend getaway we've ever had!

If you're looking for a monstrous 5 star resort with gourmet meals, room service , cable tv, gym and wifi - Telunas Beach resort is probably not the place for you. Definitely suits someone looking for more of a 'real' experience.

The place itself is beautiful - the over water bungalows, the rainforest backdrop, the white sandy beach. A total nature buzz / antidote to life in big city. The staff where incredibly friendly. They even took us along to the wedding of one of the staff members, which was an unforgettable taste of Riau Island Malay culture. The food really worked for us - a mix of western and local fare.
All up, a gem of a place, can't wait to go back and do it again, particularly the rainforest treck which we didn't have time to do!

Room Tip: Avoid school groups ( check when you book we did)

went with my wife for a weekend getaway. the fishing boat ride from sekupang, batam was 1.5hr long and we reached telunas beach. there were only 5 guests including ourselves to the place, so the beautiful beach with fine white sand was practically all to ourselves. it was very relaxing to listen to the waves when we rest in the kelong hut. and the sea breeze is cooling and comfortable. at night we lied on the bench on a private balcony and observed the stars. the huts being in the sea makes the place cooling, peaceful, and free of pests. there was also a 6m-high deck for diving into the sea, and for the less-brave ones, you might jump from the 3m-high platform. we also kayak to an uninhabited island which seemed quite near telunas beach, but in fact took us 50min to reach.
slept very very well for both nights and was fully recharged after the stay.
the only drawback is the return trip, which started with a 15min fishing boat ride to a pier, where we waited for more than 30min for a crowded, bumpy local ferry ride.
overall, excellent place for relaxing and getaway from busy city life. also recommended for groups who are interested in beach/water sports, fishing, and trekking into the forest.

Telunas ‘wooden’ Beach Resort was built in 2004, and 90% of the compound stood above sea water. There’s no electricity in Sugi Island, so the Beach Resort functioned with generators. No air-conditioner, but really, I don’t see any reason on why you’ll need one. The sea breeze is too refreshing! :) What I admired the most from the resort is its cleanliness. The room smells fresh and airy, bed-sheet is spotless, the wooden floor is amazingly clean, the bathroom works well and odor-free. Lovely.

But what’s best than having the beach for your own? When there was only you and 2 other families in the island, you’d feel as if you’re in a private beach. And again, it was one of the best beach I’ve ever seen. The sand was so clean, so white, so soft! No trace of plastic bottles or other trashes as far as the eye can see. It was just wonderful!

Apart from enjoying the white sand, reading a book or magazine while lying down in the hammock, and pampering yourself with a bath in the sea, you can also spend your time in Telunas playing volley ball, going on a kayak ride, or lighting up the campfire and baking pizza. In the morning, you can have your ‘jungle walk’ and for the more adventurous, you can also camp in the jungle! There’s also a black-hole drop inside the jungle, where you can jump from the height and dive into the pool of cold water. And don’t worry, there’s no mosquitoes in Telunas. They said it’s because of a certain tree deep in Sugi Island’s jungle which is a natural mosquito-repellent!

All the staff are very helpful, polite, and friendly. They speak fluent English, so you'll find no difficulties in communicating with them :)

Dear Hanny_Kusumawati,

Thank you for your wonderful review. We are glad you enjoyed your time at our resort.

You are correct in saying that guests generally do not need to worry about mosquitoes around the Telunas Beach area; however, we would like to point out that this is mainly due to our unique over-the-water location.

Thank you again for your visit and we look forward to having you at Telunas Beach in the near future.

What a fantastic experience! The accomodations were outstanding - we stayed in a lovely private chalet right over the water. Our chalet was spacious, clean and quiet. From our porch you could see distant islands, the wonderful private beach and we even saw monkeys in the jungle just off the beach. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable! The food was awesome (we loved the choice of Western and Asian cuisine) - my husband caught a fish and that night it was prepared for us! We watched one of the staff's husband in the water finding snails and he offered us some and we ate those for lunch - delicious! We went on a beautiful mangroves boat ride. We visited a couple of the islands close by and saw first hand how the people of the Riau Islands live. Our experience at Telunas Beach Resort was more than we could have dreamed!

This hotel works on the concept that whoever guest comes there are like family. The guests are appointed a host who is there for them almost always during the trip. Our host picked us up from Batam ferry terminal and then took us to another ferry to take us to telunas. The hotel rooms are well decorated and have a rustic feel... For food they sound a bell at specified time to call everyone in the eating hall, You can tell them beforehand if you do not like some particular thing and they do take care about your preferences in preparing. food is delicious, specially the banana crepes. Your host guides you in detail about the activities available. They have canoeing, snorkelling gear etc. The views are amazing from the room and they also organize bonfire on the beach. Overall a very relaxing experience. I would definitely want to go again..

We stayed for a few days to "recharge batteries" and left totally refreshed! As with our visit in May of last year the service was excellent; the food was a great mix of local & western; the people were friendly and very accommodating - what more can I say? Catching and then eating the sotong at night was something I will always remember................. can't wait to go back!
