“A very enjoyable evening”
Reviewed 30 March 2012

My husband and I live locally and visited Dolserau for a 3-course evening meal a few days ago. We were very well looked afer by Lou, the manager. The food was of excellent quality and it was very good value too. Others recommended the afternoon tea and I hope to enjoy one soon, with a few friends. We hope it won't be long until we can go back in the evening as well. The decor is beautiful and it's a lovely setting, in a wonderful area. I would certainly recommend it to locals and visitors alike.

We went to Dolserau Hall Hotel for a birthday celebration weekend with high expecations of the location, hotel, food and staff. We were delighted with the whole experience from when we arrived to when we left. The friendly, cheerful welcome from Lou and her team was to set the tone of the weekend, our room had views over Snowdonia (including the sheep) with a birthday card waiting in the room (nice touch). The bedding was fresh, crisp white egyptian cotton, with soft fluffy towels and generous sized dressing gowns, perfect after a soak in the roll top bath. The shower was powerful and hot, great with the supplied Moltan Brown toiletries. The food was freshly prepared with local produce and plenty of it, breakfast included fresh fruit and a delicious full Welsh. There were a friendly group of HF walkers also staying, so even with a full hotel the staff were attentive and made sure we were all looked after. We did a walk from the hotel along the Torrent, a nice walk through trees and waterfalls. Next time we stay we will take our dog and stay at the coach house next to the hotel. A well run, friendly hotel with excellent food and picturesque location.

Room Tip: Room 3 has the roll top bath and the coach house is dog friendly

Just returned from another lovely visit to Dolserau and after reading the latest review I thought I would add my own. Dolserau Hall staff do not treat dog owners as lepers, we are as well looked after as any other guest. I have even seen other dog owners ask for their left-over meat to be wrapped as a treat for their pet ( you get generous portions at meal-times! ) As a dog owner of many years I think it is excellent that there are specific rooms for pets (and there are no charges either, other hotels please note!) It wouldn't be very fair on people with allergies to animals to have to stay in a hotel where animals have the run of the place, nor very hygenic either. The Coach House annexe is a short distance down the gravelled drive, and contrary to the previous post there are lamposts all along the part you have to walk and also on the Coach House itself, maybe the other people didn't see the lights as it was probably daylight! Maybe they would have been better at Travelodge.

I have just attended a conference (In the Redwood meeting room) at Dolserau Hall Hotel and it met the needs of the group perfectly. Welcomed by friendly and attentive staff, the atmosphere is relaxing and there was more than sufficient facilities for a full day's meeting. The lunch buffet was good and there was plenty left for second helpings. Tea and coffee along with cakes were also provided and were much appreciated.
Fantastic place to hold any business trip, surrounded by the Welsh countryside means peace and quiet to think.

We arrived this sunday evening, after a 5hr drive to be met by a helpful lady, only to find out that just because we had a small dog we would have to be put in the coach house some 150mts away from the main house a dirty muddy track with no lights. You will be in the main hotel for breakfast and dinner so no point in getting dressed for dinner your shoes would be ruined. The hotel from the distance looks lovely Oh what a disappointing experience when you pull up, dirty windows paint peeling off, and the feeling inside like a retirement home? We booked through Booking.com and booked a principle room nowhere does it state dogs are not allowed in the hotel, and having just check the website somehow it suddenly appears to tell you that pets are in the coachhouse what a suprise!! Even the photos dont show the coachhouse rooms, We then encountered a futher hrs drive to Betws-y-Coed where we found a fantastic hotel only to welcome to take pets, please note all pet owners you are made to feel like leapers at Dolsearu Hall. And they took £100 fro the privilage!.

My husband and I stayed at Dolserau Hall for a Valentines Break. From the welcome to the departure everything was perfect. The staff went above and beyond. I'm on a special diet & the chef was more that happy to help me with my requests. The food was exceptional especially on Valentines Night. There is wonderful warm and homely atmosphere in the house.
We will be back.

Room Tip: Room 3 was spacious, lovely views & beautiful roll top bath! (not for tall people though)

I have been lucky enough over the years to have stayed at many top class hotels all over the world, and all I ask for is a good service and some good facilities. When I booked the Dolserau for a short break i wasn't expecting miracles, just good service and good facilities. Often these basics fail to come up to expectation, but on this occasion at the Dolserau Hall hotel they were exceeded !! Getting to the hotel is interesting - country lane in the dark, but when you reach the hotel you are welcomed with a very nice image. Expectations immediately increase, which is a risk of course as I am now looking for more than just the basics being just good. The warm welcome from the staff was a good start, followed by accommodation that was clean, warm and welcoming. The facilities were excellent, showers that worked with good water pressure, towels that were fresh, white and fluffy, the bed linen was clean and fresh. Good start. The hotel staff then informed us that they had just introduced a new gourmet experience that involved some unusual but pleasant activities. The experience involved a tour of the kitchens and an introduction to the fresh food by the head chef. Brilliant ! The dinner was superb - staff timing incredible between courses and altogether a wonderful experience. After dinner drinks in front of warm open fire in lovely surroundings - what more could one ask for. Highly recommended and we will be back.

Room Tip: Pets welcome at Lodge
