We stayed at the Perch and Pike as part of a long walk along the River Thames, from the Thames Barrier to the source. The Perch and Pike was everything a country pub should be - comfortable, with good food, and in the right place.
We found the restaurant food very good, and would particularly sigle out the roast belly prk that was on offer when we stayed.

Came out for a Sunday drive into this lovely village and stopped at the Pike
and Perch for Sunday lunch. Was greeted by a rather rude manager who was
reluctant to serve us any food as they were not serving after 2.30. I wish
he had not bothered to let us order anything as it was a huge dissapointment. I felt I had been swindled as I have seen cat food prepared better than what was served. I spoke to the manager and only got a lame excuse saying that that was the kind of price you would expect to pay in the area.I suppose this is not difficult as there is no where else to go in the
vicinity. I wouldn't mind paying high prices but in return you would expect
high quality. If it was too much trouble for management to arrange food then
they should not serve it.

I arrived by bike and ordered food at 7.30pm to be told that they would not do it as they had a number of other orders to serve. They claimed to be serving until 8.30pm. I left as a hungry cyclist. The Red Lion in Woodcote saved my day by serving me at the end of their food ordering time.

The room was fine in terms of size and decor, but lacked a blind for the skylight, resulting in a 5.30am start - not ideal for a Sunday after a wedding. Overall cleanliness was poor. On reaching for a towel it was disappointing to find it had mud on it. This disappointment quickly turned into alarm when on closer inspection it transpired to be poo!! Whilst this might have been a freak incident, when you're paying close to hotel prices for the room (£95) you'd hope the towels would be clean. However, the breakfast was hearty and the pub is in a perfect location just moments from the river, so we had a lovely walk first thing in the morning (see earlier point about the blind).
