What a lovely experience the Perch and Pike was last night - I spent one very comfortable night there - the rooms were excellent and the new owners are making this place into a delightful haven away from the bustle of the city. The food was yummy, the atmosphere with the fire outstanding and the staff and owners are really friendly and welcoming. Love the nespresso machine in the rooms! Nice touch. Great wifi in the rooms, as well which, when on business is very important!

Quite unexpectedly we nipped into the Perch and Pike whilst our car seat shopping for our 1 yr old. Good pub favourites were on the menu, cooked and presented beautifully. Warm and welcoming staff with a lovely dog and real fire, plus excellent range of ales and wines. Refreshingly child friendly - what more could we ask for. We understand the current owners have just taken the pub on, so we would like to wish them very good luck. They are doing a brilliant job.

We stayed here over the October half term with friends. a pub with rooms Both our rooms were very comfortable and the food was very good. There isn't any point in going into detail as the management were leaving that week and the pub shutting to be refurbished .It was a great an quaint old pub so lets hope it is not refurbished so that the old features are ruined.

It was not clear if the rooms were getting a makeover as well from a decoration point of view they were in good shape and we not in desperate need of it but one of our two rooms the two rooms is badly in need of a redesign. It was the more expensive room with Jacuzzi bath. This room is open plan no door on bathroom area .I know it is trendy maybe even sexy to have a bath in the room but not the loo I am sorry sharing a room while a no 2 is being undertaken in the same room is pushing it and of course totally prevents any friend popping in for a natter.

The railway is very close but in all honesty astonishingly quiet considering its proximity and our room "with the loo" backs on to the car park behind which is the railway.

Interested to go back as it as great quaint place ,very near river , in a very quiet village. Hope the new managers are as hospitable and food is as good .But will NOT have same room unless they have added a door<

Room Tip: check on wheere the loo is

We stayed at the Perch and Pike as part of a long walk along the River Thames, from the Thames Barrier to the source. The Perch and Pike was everything a country pub should be - comfortable, with good food, and in the right place.
We found the restaurant food very good, and would particularly sigle out the roast belly prk that was on offer when we stayed.

Came out for a Sunday drive into this lovely village and stopped at the Pike
and Perch for Sunday lunch. Was greeted by a rather rude manager who was
reluctant to serve us any food as they were not serving after 2.30. I wish
he had not bothered to let us order anything as it was a huge dissapointment. I felt I had been swindled as I have seen cat food prepared better than what was served. I spoke to the manager and only got a lame excuse saying that that was the kind of price you would expect to pay in the area.I suppose this is not difficult as there is no where else to go in the
vicinity. I wouldn't mind paying high prices but in return you would expect
high quality. If it was too much trouble for management to arrange food then
they should not serve it.

I arrived by bike and ordered food at 7.30pm to be told that they would not do it as they had a number of other orders to serve. They claimed to be serving until 8.30pm. I left as a hungry cyclist. The Red Lion in Woodcote saved my day by serving me at the end of their food ordering time.

The room was fine in terms of size and decor, but lacked a blind for the skylight, resulting in a 5.30am start - not ideal for a Sunday after a wedding. Overall cleanliness was poor. On reaching for a towel it was disappointing to find it had mud on it. This disappointment quickly turned into alarm when on closer inspection it transpired to be poo!! Whilst this might have been a freak incident, when you're paying close to hotel prices for the room (£95) you'd hope the towels would be clean. However, the breakfast was hearty and the pub is in a perfect location just moments from the river, so we had a lovely walk first thing in the morning (see earlier point about the blind).
