“Wonderful cottage”
Reviewed 6 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Spacious, warm and lovely. Very well appointed. It's rare to find this quality in a holiday rental. Very clean. The owner left us essentials for breakfast and very thoughtfully decorated it with a Christmas tree, etc.

“Charming cottage, ideally situated”
Reviewed 28 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed at The Old Post Office in July 2016 on a family holiday to Rutland with a three-generation group and all loved being there.

The Old Post Office is ideally situated for exploring both shores of Rutland Water, and the Hambleton peninsula itself. The cottage is generally spacious (a choice of no less than 3 sitting rooms!) and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is super, and there is plenty of space to enjoy meals outside, too.

Only two (small) points stopped this from being the perfect stay. We arrived on the hottest day of the year and the windows in the two main bedrooms don't open, so it was rather warm at night. The bathroom is quite small with not a lot of room to manoeuvre, and the mirror isn't over the sink which is slightly awkward.

But these are minor points and maybe to be expected in an older character property. I would recommend this lovely cottage to anyone wanting to explore the wonderful county of Rutland.

Hello, I am glad you enjoyed your stay. I was slightly perplexed at the comment about the Windows not opening as they do open??? They are stone mull ended Windows and therefore old so they just require a small push to open them. I sure the rooms inbetween each stay so I do know that they open. The mirror in the bathroom is to the side as the window is above the sink in the bathroom.

“Perfect weekend”
Reviewed 30 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

A stunning cottage, beautifully appointed throughout. We love the old meets new style, and this property has achieved that perfectly.
Central (guess it would be given it was the post office!) within the lovely hamlet of Hambleton and a stones throw from The Finchs Arms pub which again, is a great place for a Sunday roast!
The single downside was only having a long weekend and not an entire week stay!

“A charming house in an idyllic setting”
Reviewed 31 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

The owner is extremely responsive and her attention to detail is remarkable. The decor is of a very high standard without being austere. We were comfortable and felt very much at home with our three children. The rooms are spotlessly clean. The kitchen is fully equipped and spacious enough for us to cook at home most evenings. I can find no fault whatsoever in this vacation rental. We will definitely return and would recommend it to anyone.

“Top Rate Accommodation”
Reviewed 15 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed for four nights in early August. The Old Post Office is one of the best self catering properties that we have stayed in. Everything is done to a very high standard and we had a very relaxing break.
