“Parents with kids - excellent break!”
Reviewed 3 May 2012

We had a rather large (+-60 people) family reunion at Blanco as this was where we holidayed together nearly 40 yrs ago. While there is a somewhat decayed look about the place with lots of maintenance needed, the structure and routine of the place was perfect for a family getaway, and somehow the old worn look grew on us and we personally found it quaint in a way. Structured activities for kids were excellent with a bevy of very enthusiastic staff on hand as child minders, and this made it an excellent and relaxing break for all the parents. Food was pretty basic in quality, and adequate in volume although the service was a little trying at times, but then occupancy was pretty high over the May day weekend. The staff insisted on presenting a menu which offers a choice of starter but nothing else - we couldn't see the point in this. Most mornings found us scrounging the main lodge area for milk and sugar for our morning coffees in our rooms. Highlights were the beautiful walks and stunning Karoo scenery, and the fireplace in the lounge in the evenings. Take in some of the stunning scenery by going on walks, horse-rides, bike rides and drives in the area - I'd forgotten just how stunning the Karoo scenery is!!

Room Tip: Although we stayed close to the main area which was convenient, I would recommend one of the lower...

Dear Simon

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We do apologise for only responding now and we really hope that we can turn your slightly negative experience into an overall positive experience the next time you visit us.

We are very excited to announce that Myles and Tessa Hopkins have joined us as a management couple and they bring a great deal of hospitality experience to our idyllic guest farm. We aim to maintain our family fun environment that we have become renowned for but we will definitely be upping our game from a guest services and standards perspective.

We would love you to come back and visit us. Please call Myles Hopkins on 082 336 4850 so that we can discuss what it will take to win you back.

Warmest Regards

Chris, Kim, Tessa, Myles and the rest of the Blanco team

Blanco was chosen as the destination for our family reunion, all 62ish of us and what a superb choice it turned out to be. An absolute paradise for kids and adults alike, the activities were endless. Superb mtbing and hiking, dams for fishing, horses, tennis, squash etc. Wonderful fireplaces warm the lounges, there are great hidaway corners to enjoy a book and a very festive pub. Beware!
Chris and Kim were brilliant hosts, the babysitter staff were amazing with the kids, all in all it was a wonderful 5 day holiday.
