“wonderful family hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

We have stayed in this lovely old hotel many times and come back as often as we do for the quality of the service. Full of kindness and heart is how we would describe it. On our last trip, one of us was taken ill in the middle of the night and the response was immediate and superb, which was just what we needed. The gardens are lovely, and rambling, the swimming pool is perfect, the sea is. Lose by, the food is excellent with vast portions. What more could you ask for from a country house hotel. Thank you again, Flackley Ash, and see you again i n August!

Room Tip: Try the rooms upstairs, further away from the restaurant...

All the staff were friendly and welcoming. It was an anniversary weekend away. I enjoyed using the spa and had a massage (a little pricy but a nice treat -you need to book any beauty treatments in advance).
Having enjoyed the food in the restaurant so much on the first night, we ate there the second night as well. Breakfast was also great (no need for lunch).
Such a pleasant change from faceless chain hotels.
They allow pets, and I was concerned that it might be noisy because of this - but we did not hear a thing and the rooms were spotless - overall it was very quiet and peaceful.
Excellent location - 10 minute drive to the very quaint town of Rye
Have recommended it to my parents who are booked in for their 50th wedding anniversary in August.

Stayed with 3 friends for a pre birthday treat, The staff were all lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The food was superb and could easily compete with 5 star dining. Thank you for the singing and candle in my dessert.
The only dissappont was the pedicure but the price of this was immediately discounted once my feedback was given.
The garden room was lovely and I will be back.

Everything about out experience was first class. Booked by email having asked a number of questions which were answered promptly and courteously. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, efficient and attentive. Delightful garden room, very well appointed. The dinner bed and breakfast price is very good value offering a full choice of menu, the food being superb.
The location was excellent for the east Sussex/Kent border countryside and its many gardens, walks and attractions. We visited Pashley Manor Gardens.
Two nights of sheer, utter indulgence at an attractive rate. From our experience one of the best hotel breaks we have had in this country.

Room Tip: Garden rooms, quiet with good views. Worth the extra.

I stayed there 3 nights as part of a family wedding (that was not actually taking place at the hotel) and the staff were superb in dealing with ever changing needs, room requirements, dining requirements et al. They contributed hugely to everything going well on the day and could not be faulted in any way. Brilliant. An added bonus - food was outstandingly good and we had some "foodies" amongst us, so the bar was high!
We all loved the hotel, in all its quirkiness of design and periods, and it truly felt a home away from home.
Well done everyone

From start to finish my partner and I received excellent treatment, our every need was taken care of. The friendly helpful young staff members were the perfect hosts. Constantly following my husband around with his ice bucket for his proseco.. Much appreciated..Overall this was exactly what we wanted for a comfortable, real axing romantic weekend.
The spa was as expected, very clean up to standard and staff very helpful, ( I forgot my costume and they happily assisted).
Not only was the reception lady extremely polite she even offered to transport us to town due to large wedding taking up all the taxis. Superb treatment .
Obviously we can't wait to return.. Very happy customers xxx
We would like to wish Jo early congratulations on his up and coming wedding.. He was the perfect host. Love Lynne and Riccardo

Room Tip: Access to all rooms were suitable. We had ground floor overlooking beautiful courtyard garden

We were guests at a family celebration.i can't fault the overall experience
Our food was superb, as was the helpfulness of all the staff. They went to a huge effort to make my visit( in a wheelchair) as comfortable as possible.
I understand that the building is listed, but in this day and age , to have to traverse a gravel path, then garden to access a Loo that could facilitate my disability needs was uncomfortable and slightly embarrassing. Thank goodness it was a dry day, if it had been wet, we'd been like drowned rats!!
Having said that , I really appreciated the managers efforts to facilitate my needs.
We required ramps to access the hotel and then again to the restaurant, and again , whilst the staff did everything in their power to make me feel comfortable, it was a very embarrassing situation to have to wait for people to lug about large heavy ramps. Surely there must be an easier way round this. Once seated at the table I felt " trapped" as they had to take away the ramps.I waited as long as humanly possible on a very hot day before asking for them to be replaced so I could be moved to a cooler spot,( everyone else was able to pop out side or up the step to the cooler part of the room, whenever they felt the need) sadly this meant once I was up the step, then out of the hotel( to pop to the loo) I felt I had to go home as there was no way I'd ask them to put the ramps back again
This is no reflection on the kindness of all the staff involved, and although I realise we wheelchair users are in the minority, it s a pity that what seems like a very nice hotel is severely lacking in being wheelchair friendly
