“Our wedding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

We went to see Jen and staff at the stone trough about booking our wedding reception , we told them what we wanted and instantly they gave us great advice and we decided to use the stone trough for day/night venue , we have not been disappointed by any service they provided and food was served and very enjoyable . lots of us had rooms for the night , the bridal suite was excellent .
As we have both been previously married we have children and grandchildren also lots of family and friends , they accommodated us with excellent facilities for everything , even after a very eventful day / night , other guests that were there were informed and hopefully we did not disturb there stay .
The morning after we were treated with great care and excellent breakfast . We would like to thank Jen and her very pleasant / efficient staff who made our wedding day perfect , nothing was to much for them .
On trip advisor people make comments about cleanliness and updating , yes I agree maybe a little updating would make it a little nicer , but nothing beats great hospitality and if you want pristine cleanliness and modern up dated buildings go and pay the correct price and you will get it ,
Thanks again all at the stone trough from Alan and susan Hodson and all our family's

I stay here quite a lot on my business travels, rooms are good but some areas are a bit tired but good value for the price, free WiFi, good parking and the food in the restaurant is excellent, large portions and great choice.
Breakfast is good with local produce and plenty of tea, coffee, cereal and toast, don't eat too much as the cooked breakfast is well worth a try.

Room Tip: All rooms i have stayed in are quite, there are 2 suites which cost a bit more but are larger and on...

Oh dear oh dear my husband booked a suite for one night as part of my birthday celebration - the suite was stuck in the early 90's in decor which I could cope south but the cobwebs in the shower flies on the window sills - dirt flowing out of the jacuzzi bath and dust in every place you looked as well as make up and dust lining the bathroom walls just made you wish you had brought a tent ! ! Although the teams personality and enthusiasm were a credit there lack of care in the property meant this was wasted

Thank you for your response , but why was something not said after checking in the room ?? if you had come straight back to the bar one of the girls or myself could of at least got the room re serviced or moved you to one of our suites and you would have experienced one of our refurbished rooms .

I thank you though, as it brings to light the room had not been checked before your arrival l have already spoken to housekeeping

But I would like you to return and stay in one of our refurbished rooms , also you will note there has been no charge for the room

regards

Jennie

Landed here, tired and hungry after a drive of the Tour de France route with friends. The function room was busy with a private party yet we were ordered and served very quickly.
Food was piping hot, well presented and the staff just excellent.
Will be back again for sure

Great choice! We wanted to see both stage 1and 2 of the race having found we were too late for comfortable accommodation in Yorkshire Dales.
Had large executive room in refurbished annex with view over countryside. Excellent, generous sized bed ( rarely the case on this budget), room immaculate, plenty of hot water and very quiet.
Manager Jenny very 'hands on', welcomed us in reception on arrival, took us straight to much needed loo, then checked us in! Served us later in the bar, and was serving special TDF early breakfast on Sunday morning (other staff in early to do it on Sat) . Really cares that her guests are comfortable and well fed. Wants to sort out any concerns as they arise and ensure guests have relaxed stay.
Restaurant arrangements very informal and evening meals served in bar area - great for watching World Cup or similar. Very good locally produced food. Relaxed arrangements with no expectation of dressing for dinner!!
All staff very attentive and friendly. Great venue for us with good road connections to Ilkley where we were in place of our choice by 7.30 am Sat and Holme Firth where we had car parked by 8.30 am and in great position to see ascent of Holme Moss on Sunday.
Would definitely return if wanting further stay in this neck of the woods!
Thanks to all At Old Stone Trough!

Spent 2 nights here for Tour de France. After 7 hour journey we arrived just before 10 on Friday night so had missed the restaurant opening hours. We were offered local takeaway options which was a fantastic idea and promptly ordered a pizza and had a lovely well desered drink whilst we waited. We stayed in Standard room which was sufficient for our needs and the £64 we paid for it which included breakfast. Bed was very comfortable, room was clean and the breakfast was excellent - service second to none! The one thing that makes this establishment special is the outstanding staff that work here - nothing was too much trouble and they were friendly and very helpful - without exception. Worth a vist to experience their hospitality.

We have just spent 2 nights in order to catch a glimpse of the Tour de France in Skipton. My husband booked this 9 months ago when hotel advertised the event and promoted themselves as near to the venue. When we arrived we found that in order to get to the venue in plenty of time we needed to catch the bus outside at 6.20 and breakfast didn't start until 8 am. When the manager realised she organised staff to come in at short notice and all of us who were off to Skipton were fed from 5am. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and assisted in whatever way they could. The food at the hotel was fresh, plentiful and reasonably priced. We stayed in a ground floor executive room which was spotlessly clean and spacious. The only reason I haven't given 5 states is because there are 3 things I would do to make the rooms slightly better. There are lovely patio doors that open onto the beer garden. There is however no separate window. On a stuffy night I wouldn't be happy sleeping with the patio doors open when you can see the main road from the door. Also, if the beer garden is occupied a net curtain would be useful for privacy especially when children are playing in the garden and smokers are outside. We had to close the curtains. On a final point, the curtains had no linings and were quite transparent. The curtains need linings or black outs attaching. Other than these very minor points we could not fault it and would highly recommend. We would definitely stay again and it was great value for money.
