We stayed one Saturday night as one couple in a group of 12. Bay Tree farm is well off the beaten track so it's quiet with stunning views across the fields, a nice large garden to sit in with fields behind, and plenty of parking.

The bedroom was large, king size bed, more than enough tea/coffee/water/biscuits etc, very well appointed and the same with the en suite. The road is a small lane so there's little to no passing traffic - even in the daytime.

It's well worth going for the evening meal. I'd like to offer some sort of helpful criticism but I can't; the 3 course evening meal for our large party was top quality with a cracking roasted pepper soup (or a melon based salad - I guess both if you wanted it) for starters and multiple platters for mains. More than enough and I've a big appetite. Breakfast was the usual expected options but again, top quality and enough of it.

All in all, what I appreciated most of all was that they really tried to look after us. As I said, normally I try to provide helpful information beyond how marvellous everything is but suffice to say I couldn't fault it and nothing was too much trouble. If you're thinking of booking - go!

We would recommend this lovely bed and breakfast. My husband and I stayed overnight and received a warm welcome by Val, who is so friendly and obliging. Our room was spacious, full of character and comfortable with a view over the garden, it was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the atmosphere, meeting other guests and the lovely food which we enjoyed together round the farmhouse table. The situation was good, just near Fountain Abbey which is so worth a visit. We have no hesitation in recommending this farmhouse.

We needed a stop over on our way up to Northumberland and found this GEM on the net. The Farmer and his Wife (Val and Andrew) are charming and the accommodation excellent. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We will be
back.

One word would sum up this place “SUPERB”. My mum, sister & I found this “gem” by chance by looking on the internet and whilst it looked fabulous, the pictures nor description does it justice. It is absolutely fantastic. The owner, Val absolutely loves what she does and it shows. Freshly made tea and Victoria sponge was awaiting us which was most welcome as we arrived on a Friday evening straight from work. Our exceptionally large family room was spotlessly clean, had such character and the beds were so comfortable. The attention to detail was exceptional. The living room downstairs had a log burner which was always on and very cozy. You get the full use of the building you are in and were shown the kitchen to help ourselves to tea! Super farmhouse kitchen, super accommodation and the food is to die for. We had booked an evening meal which was hot and home cooked and Val’s deserts are fantastic. The breakfast the next day was also home cooked, hot and fabulous. It definitely set us up for the day! Val’s local knowledge is exceptional. She is so enthusiastic about everything and she even organised a lovely walk for us, taking in all the local beauty spots and the weather was lovely which gave us stunning views and photographs. The location is also spot on, very quiet surroundings, lovely scenery, lovely walks, 5-10 minutes walk away from Fountain Abbey and about 40 minutesfrom Ripon. Val was eager to know how we had got on on our walk and was genuinely pleased to hear we had had a good day. A lovely lady, a superb B&B, super food and a fantastic weekend altogether. We will definitely return.
