“Nice weekend away”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2012 via mobile

Stayed over a weekend with my wife. The site was sign posted from the main road. Check in was smooth and we were given our pitch. The pitch was a good size. The facilities were good with a shop, bar, resturant and games area. The showers were quite messy after the morning rush but that wasn't the parks fault. Would definatly go back

Visited the campsite on the off chance that we could stay only to be met by a turned up nose and a statement of oh we don't do last minute stays you have to book and we wouldn't accommodate one night only. I completely accept this but I was very upset in the manner in which I was told I had money to spend and I do not appreciate bad customer service, I will not recommend this campsite to anyone which is a pity seeing as it looked very nice what I saw of it.

Thankyou for your feedback, we apologise for any lack of service on our part. The park was full at that time but we would be pleased to welcome you in the future.

We stayed for a long weekend in our caravan and really enjoyed it. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The pub on site is lovely. The pitches are big and well spaced out. There is plenty of room for the children to play. I would go back and I would recommend it.

This campsite is wonderful, it has the right mix of facilities for tent campers plus enough space to let the kids roam free - playing cricket with new-found friends in the camping field, climbing and playing on the three playgrounds or going exploring in the "woods".

The pitches are reasonably sized, some are quite slopey - only really a probelm if (stupidly) you try to play jenga in your tent! The pitches are all located in different fields around the edge of a central grassed area so, as I said above the kids can be let off the leash a little.

The bathroom facilites were clean and fairly extensive - only had to que for the family bathroom, but the showers are big enough for two (that's me and a child by the way!). There is a freezer so you can rotate your icepacks if your not on hookup - or even chill your pinot if the weather is right! The waskhing up area is fine, although as pointed out previously the sinks are a little small - but nothing you can't deal with!

There are three play parks - one is a little old but perfectly fine, the other two are aimed at different ages and both loved very much by our children. The play park for the little ones being conveniently located next to the washing up area. There is a barn near this area with a large chessboard, connect 4 and a pool table and table tennis table.

The onsite bar is very good with friendly staff and reasonable priced and good bar food.

The onsite shop is well stocked with all essentials, and small toys etc for the children to waste er spend their pennies on!

The kids loved the lambs and being able to feed them.

The site is located within easy driving distance of Ripon which has a large supermarket and is close to lots North Yorks attractions, however you really need to drive as the site itself is a bit off the beaten track, wchih was just a bonus in my opinon!

All in all a clean, safe, friendly, family site.

This is a lovely site which has nice walks around it. We took our two dogs for our 3 night break and was great to walk them through the small wooded area on site. There are two small fishing lakes on site as well which my husband spent a day fishing on.
Nearby there are a number of tourist attractions....birnham rocks is a fun day out!
The facilities are clean and tidy and staff seem friendly. Would definitely recommend this site.

Clean, tidy and friendly reception. Efficient and safe barrier system and car park for spare cars. Spacious pitches which were fairly flat. Toilet block was lovely - modern, clean and tidy (at all times of the day and night). The 3 children's play areas suited my little boy as he made lots of different friends, and the well thought out indoor games, (a large open shed with stuff in for all ages to use if wet), was a lovely addition to the facilities. The pub was fine as was the food and there was a nice "find" in a couple of ponds and a woodland walk. We didn't go off the site at all as it was so peaceful and easy to be around. I just wish they'd told us about their recycling man who comes round every morning to collect rubbish, we'd binned ours by then. I had a look around the static caravan area and I could be very tempted! A fabulous; well run; organised; immaculate park away from it all yet 10 mins drive from civilisation. We'll be back but I'm not sure with a damn tent!!!!!

We camped here for one weekend with three other families and had a great time. The great weather helped but the campsite is in a nice location with good, clean facilities. We pitched in the bottom of three fields which meant we were furthest away from the toilet block which could've been nearer but wasn't a great hardship.
The pub on site is nice and the food was tasty, as was the Black Sheep beer. There's a little cycle path in the campsite through the woods and round the lake and we went on a nice walk to a local pub so plenty to do.
Ripon is not far off as is Forbidden Corner and the fantastic Brimham Rocks - a great cheap day out if you have adventurous kids who like climbing.
Our best camping trip yet.

Room Tip: The bottom field was the quietest although it wasn't a particularly noisy campsite
