“Lovely!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

We stayed here for 3 nights camping (non elec hook up) for Le Grand Depart!

Check in was easy and we were directed straight to our pitch. All pitches are numbered and have plenty of space, we fitted our 5 man tent plus Audi estate onto our pitch with tones of room to spare! None of the pitches are squished in like so many other campsites we have been to.
We do not have children and therefore we were positioned away from the play area and with other adults, this was welcomed as it meant we could sit quietly away from the chaos!

The toilet and shower block was fairly basic, but very clean and in all honesty what more could you need! There were also lots of sinks at the washing station and although we didn't use them there was also a laundry room, disabled & family bathrooms.

As it was the Tour De France weekend the park also provided secure bike storage in one of their outbuildings with a very lovely lady sleeping in a caravan inside the building to ensure they were secure! We were really appreciative of this as it meant we could leave the bikes and go offsite without worrying about them.

All in all we had a lovely stay and found the park extremely pleasant, would definitely stay again!

After an almighty nightmare of a journey up we finally made it to the campsite - from this point onward we could not fault anything.

As we were not expecting to be spending much time at the site (we were following the Tour de France) we decided not to have electrics and just use our cycle touring tents.

We were shown to our pitch, which was large, the field was also large, but a lot of it was left open rather than cramming more tent in.

Thankfully the shop with its reasonable prices and wide stock had extended its opening times as we were out of gas. Likewise on the Saturday they re-opened the shop as the racing went on late.

Local knowledge was also freely given - good viewing points, way round road closures etc They gave us a special TdF mug and stocked the bar with Black sheep special Velo beer and live music for the Saturday night. The facilities were spotless despite the rain and extra pitches. We'll definitely be back all the staff were really helpful and enthusiastic.

Just returned from a two night stay camping in the top paddock.

The rain leading up to our break left the fields rather messy but on arrival we where greeted warmly with the problem explained and personally shown our camping spot. We managed just fine (always take our wellies what ever the weather) and all other arrivals where spread out to allow the fields to dry.

Facilities immaculate. Staff friendly. Kids loved it :) this is a site welcomes large groups/families. I wouldn't call it rowdy but lights don't go out at 9pm.

Our weekends focus was a trip to Lightwater Valley. The Park is a twenty minute drive but a lovely direct route.

The roads leading to the site are real country roads...would advice seriously taking the advice 're directions that the website give. Especially if towing.

Will visit this site again and take friends and family. Totally Fab :)

Just got back from wet weather weekend but you make the most of it! We were on the Far Paddock so luckI'll no problem getting the car off the pitch. These were a great size for our large tent with plenty of room for car. Facilities were great and clean all things considered with the mud everywhere! The play areas for the kids were great especially having one by the wash up area. Went for a walk around the fishing pond which was a nice addition to the site. You must go to the on site pub! The food is gorgeous with brilliant choice for us and kids really friendly staff and a log burner which was welcome after getting soaked putting the tent up haha! Consider bucket for night peeing as its a little walk to the toilets also bank holiday get up early for a shower. Ladies had a small family bath you could use for little ones who don't like showers. Loved this site and location was great for visiting light water valley. Will be back. :-)

Room Tip: Choose Far Paddock if rain is forecast to avoid muddy fields. Take a night pre bucket. Book a meal i...

Been for 3 nights this weekend. Not their fault for the weather, but if the fields have had in built drainage things could have been different. In the middle Paddock, which was a long long walk to shower, toilets and wahroom facilities. Used the car to do the washing up, The facilites where very clean considering the weather, but where not enough for the amount of people there. Always had to queue for a shower, always a queue for the washing up. Kids enjoyed it plenty of play areas and indoor play area. Only the top paddock had a water tap. If there was more facilities in the middle and bottom paddock that could have helped with the fields not being converted to a mud plane. The caravans seemed to have the best spots on the sight right next to the facilities in the top paddock. Regardless of the weather I would still take my wellies.

Room Tip: Book earlir and ask for top paddock.

last week spent 2 nights in a pod which we have never done before and was a bit worried as we love camping in a tent. but was surprised how lovely it actually was. we were the only couple to have a pod so was lovely and peacful and quiet not sure if i would like it if other people there as not much room as pods close together but would be good for a group to hire out. was in the middle of a bluebell wood which was pretty and secluded. pod itself was spotless and clean and warm i was surprised i was expecting a shed but it was beautiful and very large for two people. we took our own bbq which id advise as the one there is a bit dirty and rusty. was a perfect stay and definatly do it again if weather wasnt good enough for camping in a tent :)

Just returned from 3 nights of extremely muddy camping at Woodhouse Farm. The weather was very much against us...! But this site is great! Showers, toilets, pot-wash etc all well maintained, and kept clean (quite tricky this weekend due to the amount of mud being dragged in all the time though). One small negative - there is only one set of facilities, up by the Reception/Shop area, so they get very busy when the site is full (as it was this weekend), and if you are pitched down in the Far Paddock, it is a lonnnnng way to walk to the loo! There's loads of room for the kids to play, and the playgrounds and play-barn are a nice touch. We ate in The Barn on our first night, and the food was really good. Didn't need to use the shop, but it looked pretty well-stocked. Friendly and helpful staff (and some fellow campers were very glad of the tractor-to-pull-them-out-of-the-mud service as they were leaving!). It did get a bit load and rowdy at night, with big groups enjoying the gaps in the rain (playing cricket, firing up the BBQ etc), so don't choose this one if you are looking for a peaceful break; but it is ideal to let the kids run round, meet new friends and have a great time.
Great location, beautiful part of North Yorkshire, and perfect for a visit to Ripon, Hawes, Masham etc. I would come again, and would bring the bikes and make full use of the cycle-tracks and quiet roads around the site.

Room Tip: Far Paddock is a long walk to the facilities, but these are the pitches without EHU.
