“Best Until Last”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2013

We had been travelling round Wales for the week and ended up at The Three Cocks and we certainly saved the best until last. Fomtheminute we entered the hotel we were made to feel so welcome by Roy & Hilary who put great effort into looking after their guests. Our room was superb, large and completely spotless with a lovely ensuite bath/shower etc.
We ate in the restaurant that evening and the meal was first class. Even if Roy says he's a cook not a chef he's produces first class fare in a lovely restaurant.
After a wonderful quiet nigts seep, breakfast was again a delight with a beautiful cooked breafast to keep us going through our final journey home.
We were so impressed that we will be returning for a longer stay and exploring more of the Brecon countryside. Well done !

The Three Cocks is a 400 yr old coaching inn. Its exterior belies the luxuries awaiting within the thick stone walls. Our room was quirky with a small flight of stairs just inside the door and low windows overlooking the peaceful, private gardens to the rear.

Furnishings were generally antique with an amazing wardrobe and dressing table but the kingsize bed was sumptiously comfortable with fine quality bedlinen and beautifully, tastefully and minimally presented. The tea tray was a delight with a teapot, a very good looking cafetiere and (joy of joys) proper cups and saucers. The spacious bathroom was very modern, spotlessly clean, well lit and featured a powerful easy to use shower.

Downstairs the public rooms were marvellously comfortable and we enjoyed delicious evening meals and magnificient cooked breakfasts. Can particularly recommend the sirloin steak, one of the best I've ever had. There are no televisions in the bedrooms (didn't miss it once!) but there is a tv in the guest sitting room which is a beautiful room with windows on two sides, comfortably furnished and with lots of books. Only wish I'd had more time to spend relaxing in there.

Stayed 1 night in early November, made very welcome. The room was very comfortable, well appointed spacious quiet and spotlessly clean. Lovely log fires and atmospheric public/ private guest rooms. Breakfast was among the best with locally sourced food. dinner was also excellent and very good value. Worth a special trip to stay here and enjoy a lovely part of South Wales

We stayed here on our annual biking weekend. In late July. From the moment we arrived Roy and Hilary could not have made us more welcome. Roy even supplied me with a bucket of soapy water to wash the flie of our windshields. The rooms were olde worlde and so roomy and comfortable. With nice modern en suite bathrooms. Just the job after a days biking. The food was !st class and just wish we could have stayed longer and work our way through the whole menu. I will most definitely book back in if I ever get a chance to visit South Wales again.

As a small group tour operator this is exactly the kind of accommodation we look for. Staying in a 500 year old coaching inn is always a thrill for me. I love architecture and I love the quirkiness that is to be expecting in a building of this age. Roy and Judith were the perfect hosts and could not do enough for us! We felt like long lost family members who were being welcomed back home! Dinner was a real treat! Thank you for a wonderful stay and I can't wait to come back!
